There’s so many wonderful hotels in Puglia. This isn’t one of them.

There’s so many wonderful places in puglia. So many well run special hotels. This isn’t one of them.I came for a conference. Their housekeeping team lost my conference ID, my sponsors badge. They never were able to find them. The hotel is in the middle of nowhere - off a highway. Rooms are basic and overlook roads. They won’t bring irons to your room and there is one iron in a small ironing room for a hotels that has hundreds of rooms. Queues to iron clothes were at times onerous half an hour. It’s just basic and poor. Don’t waste your money here. Puglia is wonderful.

Lovely hotel but not a conference centre

    rating03 Sept 2025

A lovely hotel, clean and chilled - well mostly. The hotel is well situated for travel out to Monopoli and Ostuni town. I would say you definitely need a car as the hotel food options are limited and the restaurants in walking distance are few. Having said that, the food at Rodos is great. The issue we had with the hotel was that a corporate event was being held at the same time. It's very strange being sat at the pool with people in business atire and lanyards walking past. The bottom pool became unusable due to the area near the pool being used as breakout sessions with flip charts. My wife and I work in the corporate environment, and a holiday is to escape this type of thing. It was only that we booked via an Italian holiday company that we were upgraded to a suite after the hotel denied that such an event was taking place.

Not suitable for families with children

    rating30 Aug 2025

Although this hotel is lovely, very clean, with stunning pools and a nice restaurant, I cannot recommend it for families. The lifeguards were extremely rude to the children and seemed to dislike any noise at all. My children were not shouting or screaming, just splashing and playing, yet when we challenged the lifeguard, we were shouted at and told to leave the pool. We did involve the manager, who thankfully asked the lifeguard to back off, but the whole situation really put us on edge for the rest of our stay. The hotel itself is beautiful, but a car is an absolute must as there isn’t much around within walking distance.

    Great stay!

    rating27 Jul 2025

Loved our stay here! We asked to move the first day as when we opened the patio doors to our terrace the traffic was quite loud, may not bother some people but I do like peace and quiet on holiday! Reception was very helpful and offered us a room of the same standard on the other side of the hotel. Not much the hotel can do about the traffic noise but be aware. The hotel was very clean, very tastefully decorated, a great chilled atmosphere, loved the local pottery everywhere. The staff are extremely friendly and so helpful. Swimming pools, there are a choice of 3, all brilliant, plenty of sunbeds to go around. The hotel has a private beach, you can walk there which takes 10 mins or get a lift in a golf buggy which was good in the heat! Beach was beautiful, lovely golden sand and the water was calm and very clear. There is a sand bank a few metres into the sea, which makes it safe for young children as it’s not deep for a long way out. We never struggled for a sunbed and you are placed in the rows according to your level of room/ suite. We loved our suite, very high specification, looked like it’s been recently refurbished. Was a great size with plenty of room for storage. Bathroom was extremely clean. We ate in the 2 restaurants a few times for both lunch and dinner. Food was of a high standard and the waiting staff and maitre’ d were all very helpful and friendly. Our only comment is that the menu is limited and after a few days, we had eaten most of the options, would be great if there were daily specials to give a bit more variety. Would be advisable to have a car to travel to the local sites, most places are only max half an hour away ie Ostuni city, Alberobello, Polignano a Mare. We also ate at a couple of lovely seafood restaurants in the nearby Villanova - Si Sea Villanova and Vicolo A Mare Ristorante & Pizzeria, both were great and lovely views across the sea. Tip: Ask for a room on the pool side as you can hear traffic from the other side of the hotel.

Clean, great pool areas, lovely restaurants

    rating13 Jul 2025

A great week and generally speaking the hotel was fine; friendly staff, bedrooms/bathrooms were clean, pool area was spacious (feel there should be an adults only pool (this is listed on the website) A highlight was the lagoon pool that whilst a little tired looking was so refreshing and a great spot to sunbathe. We didn’t go in to the beach as was fairly windy during our stay so sea was quite rough. Restaurants great but very limited menu when staying for a week (we were half board) bedrooms were small and beds were very small (we had a twin room) they were also incredibly hard which has left me with a bad back. Only 1 pillow given as standard whereas I think 2 is preferable for most. Lots on offer for kids and adults alike. Overall the hotel is a little dated and tired but this did not detract from a great week in the sun. Ostuni A Mare, General Manager at Ostuni a Mare, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you for your thoughtful review and for choosing Ostuni a Mare for your holiday. We’re glad you appreciated the friendly staff, clean rooms, and especially the lagoon pool. Your comments regarding room comfort and menu variety are valuable and will help us improve. To offer more variety during longer stays, we’ve recently introduced an event calendar with experiential dinners designed to complement and enrich our dining options , we hope you’ll have the chance to enjoy them on a future visit. We're pleased that, overall, you had a great week in the sun, and we hope to welcome you back soon!Best regards,Giuseppe
