Location

The hotel is located in the highest gardens in Apulia, at 840 metres above sea level, in the heart of Gargano National Park, along the ancient Via Sacra Longobardorum. It is set among the greenery, with a splendid panoramic view of the sea, facing the Norman-Swabian castle. The Gargano coast can be reached in 20 minutes. The town centre, which is only about 100 metres away from the hotel, has shops, restaurants, bars and pubs on offer.

Facility

57 rooms and 2 suites are located on 3 storeys and can be reached by lift. The reception desk is open round the clock. Amenities include a cloakroom, a baggage storage service and a safe. Wireless internet access is provided in public areas. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. The hotel has a range of facilities for guests with disabilities. Wheelchair-accessible facilities are available. There are also a number of shops that make for great strolling and browsing. A garden provides extra space for rest and relaxation in the open air. Additional facilities include a TV room. Guests arriving by car can park their vehicles in the garage or in the car park. Meals

Various dining options are available, including a dining room, a breakfast room, a café and a bar. The non-smoking restaurant provides high chairs for children. Catering options include bed and breakfast, half board and full board. A continental breakfast buffet guarantees a great start to the day. For lunch and dinner, guests can order à la carte. Diet meals, gluten-free meals, vegetarian dishes and children's meals can be prepared on request. In addition, special catering options and snacks are available.

    Stayed here as part of an Inn Travel walking holiday. Location good for visiting the historic town. Beds nice but shower tiny given size of room. Breakfast canteenesk. Charging for use of own pool a bit much. Reason for being four star must be it has a lift.

    We stayed in overnight in this hotel from our visit to San Giovanni Rotondo, to Santuario di San Pio da Pietrelcina to be specific. We arrived in this hotel late in the evening. When we left the following morning on the way to Rome, it was only then that we found out that Palace Hotel San Michele is located in a place with breathtaking view.The hotel design is not modern. There are sitting areas in the foyers. The room has an air-conditioning, a comfortable bed and a clean bathroom with hot water. The entire T&B floor area is not tight but the enclosed shower is only around one square meter, or even less, but no problem...The breakfast...the venue, the food and service were all good.

    We only spent one night here but all went smoothly. The car was under shelter in a free private car park. Check in quick and efficient and we were accompanied to our room which was comfortable. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good too. We didn’t take half board but it looked very reasonable. All too soon we were on our way again….

    One Night was Enough

    The Palace Hotel was comfortable enough for 1 night, but not a place I would choose to linger. It is supposed to be a spa hotel, but access to the spa is charged at an extra 15 euros per person and even then you are only allowed a limited time. In addition, you have to rent a bathrobe, flip flops and a swim hat at additional cost. At the end of the long, hot walk, I would have loved a trip to the pool, but decided against it because the charges seemed mean for paying hotel guests. The shower was a “squeeze yourself in and out” style too.There is a restaurant in the hotel, but you have to place order everything in advance which again felt unwelcoming. The staff at breakfast were more concerned with moving the chairs around (loudly) for the next coach party rather than serving coffee. 1 night at the Palace Hotel was definitely enough for us. Not recommended – look for a better option in Monte Sant’Angelo.

    Average for "distingue" mass tourism. Salubrious location, ill equipped staff wise, average mass tourism dinner and breakfast, overpriced for the "itinerant vagrant". Last minute respite, good walk on the hill, stupedous views, early morning departure. A "force majeur" station on a majestic hill near Bari. Worth paying a visit having prearranged your stay.
