This is my second visit through Mistral Holdays. The hotel is a great place for touring from. We had an excellent guide Armando. The accomodation is clean and basic. Yes the restaurant is like a canteen but we had our own set tables it’s noisy and busy but the atmosphere is great the staff speak no English (and why should they ) and can be abrupt. The food is a very good choice and I believe the meat fish and vegetables are sourced locally A wellspreadoutcomplex with lots of lovely plants. We had free drinks and served in glasses not plastics as was previous caseThe roster amazing really helped by Armandos knowledge and sense of humour my fellow guests are so friendly. Highly recommend Mistral Holidays.

This hotel complex is in the middle of nowhere. There is absolutely nothing else in the local area and it's very isolated. The 'restaurant' is more like a works canteen, over crowded and extremely noisy, with bland unimaginative food. They don't serve food at lunch, so if stranded there for the whole day, you have a long walk to find the nearest restaurants. The beach area is full of plastic bottles and other rubbish. I would not recommend this hotel. Sara Spedicato, Marketing at Riva Marina Resort - CDSHotels, responded to this review Dear Guest,Thank you for sharing your experience at Riva Marina Resort – CDSHotels. We are sorry to read that some aspects of your stay did not meet your expectations. However, we would like to point out that our resort is located close to the Torre Guaceto Nature Reserve, in an area chosen precisely for its natural surroundings and peaceful atmosphere, while still offering numerous services and activities within the property itself.Regarding the restaurant service, our Chef daily proposes Italian and international buffet options, local specialties, and themed dinners designed to offer our Guests a varied and complete dining experience. We are sorry that the gastronomic offer did not meet your personal taste. As for lunch service, it is regularly provided according to the board treatment booked by the Guest.Regarding the beach area, we would like to specify that the dedicated beach services, as well as the full management of the equipped area, are activated starting from the summer season. We therefore regret what you experienced during your stay in a period prior to the full activation of the seasonal services.Thank you again for taking the time to share your feedback.Kind regards.

    End of season break

The hotel complex is large but well spread out . We stayed in the last week of the hotel so was very quiet and most of hotel was closed. The food was buffet and good choice. In summer the hotel would be very busy. If it rains which it did the week before we went you would get very wet. We were on an organised tour and given the choice would not stay there again. The all inclusive drinks were served in paper cups which was not the best.

Miss sold our package holiday, abandoned after one night. Do not stay at Riva Marina Resort after August.

The resort was closed for the winter when we had arrived. The staff seemed surprised we were even checking in and offered us a hire car as the receptionist said we would be 'stranded' for the whole week. There were no bars open or restaurants to get food during the day, the restaurant opened at 7:30 p.m. at night and only provided food when the German tour group were staying, as soon as they left there was no food on offer. Breakfast was whatever was left over from the night before, for example croissants, some ham and some cakes from the evening meal the previous day.The resort is in diet need of some TLC. Cracked steps leading to the pool area, dirty pool water where staff were power washing the patios and the dirty water was going into the pool. Chairs and parasols all packed away for the winter. No iron in the laundry room as someone had supposedly 'stolen it'. The spa was only open for three hours a day at 25 Euros a time just to use the pool. A brand new poo was located near the tennis courts but this was closed for the winter. The crazy golf look like it had gone through a hurricane. There is no transport to the local beach. There was mud all over the foot paths where pools of water were gathering during rain showers. Bedrooms are very basic with broken furniture and our extraction fan overheated and blue the electrics in our room. The shower head was broken and drowned the bathroom. Bikes were abandoned and rusty, we were told to just take whatever we could even though we were supposed to pay for the bike hire, staff embarrassed at the state of the bikes. There was just simply nothing to do and the place was closed down. The only food you could get between breakfast and evening meal was a bag of crisps from the cafe that sold coffee or soft drinks. We checked out after one evening with Love Holidays taking absolutely no responsibility. This is a beautiful area of Italy to visit but do not book a package holiday, book some accommodation in one of the cities and explore with reasonable car hire and train links. The resort resembled a rundown and closed Butlins camp. Not a 4-star resort that we were sold.

Not for the faint hearted or English, unless you speak Italian

    rating28 Aug 2025

We came with family to this all inclusive resort and whilst the description might be factually correct, the fact that everything is geared to its Italian guests meant that the kids clubs, day and evening entertainment was not accessible to us. Initially we were close to a pool frequented by feral youths with a music box and near the theatre that had loud music that went onto midnight. We were moved closer to family & a nicer apartment, but its proximity to a sister hotel’s entertainment facility with banging music & karaoke also until midnight made a relaxing holiday impossible. It was also just under 1km from the restaurants and bars, that had opening times that meant you had to scout around to get drinks and snacks. The self service “canteen” facilities were chaotic and not conducive to enjoyable eating experiences, more like a bun fight. Few staff spoke English. I would rate this hotel at no more that a 3 star at best. This is a sprawling site with maybe 3000 guests
