    Convenient not Comfort

    This is a convenient location to stay if boarding a cruise, but don’t expect much. It’s a 15 min taxi ride to the city of Ravenna which I highly recommend you do to eat just keep in mind restaurants close at 2 pm and reopen again at 7 pm. The food at the hotel is average and the breakfast that’s included is the same. Felt like a cafeteria eating experience or if you’ve experienced camp similar to that. Rooms were mediocre as well. Bus shuttle worked out to the port.

    Very Poor Experience at Grand Hotel Mattei

    This is the first Hotel , where I have ever stayed in my life , that do not provide a kettle or coffee maker - No mug , No cup - Forget about the fact we stayed at the Presidential Suite (Recently it's very common that , especially at Suite Room ,you find a very good coffee maker , like Nespresso Machine ) - Of course there's No fitness center at this 4 star Hotel - My wife and I are extremely disappointed , and feeling sad .

    Disappointing Hotel

    Stayed for 2 nights with friends October 25. Disappointing experience. Hotel is very far from Ravenna itself (45/50 min walk) and sited on a busy road with views across to the unsightly local industrial estates. Staff at reception were polite, friendly and helpful to their credit. However the hotel bar was rarely staffed and breakfast was disappointing with odd testing eggs and cheap bacon dripping in oil. On the second night the Ravenna Cameroonian association held an enormous party with loud music blaring into the early morning. After it stopped the Cameroonians could be heard loudly shouting, jabbering and wooping outside the front of the hotel until around 5am. We were on the 5th floor and it was still loud. The room itself was extremely hot (in October!) and had no fan or air conditioning and a window that only opened a small way. The beds were ok and bathroom functioned well. Bathroom was ok - but had horrible ‘eco toilet paper’ which was like trying to clean yourself with sandpaper. They had complimentary water in reception which was appreciated. This hotel is not a great choice for anyone visiting Ravenna itself unless you have your own car. Ugly and noisy setting. Lack of AC was painful with rooms very hot ar night even with windows open. I imagine it would have been lethal in summer. While I can’t fully blame the hotel for the behaviour of the Cameroonians I do feel they should have done more to keep the noise down after 2/3am.

    Great value, clean, spacious, fantastic location

    Clean, spacious, well-appointed rooms with friendly staff. Great food in their restaurant; good bus stop to get into town that runs every 30 minutes and a shuttle bus (pay per use) that takes you to the cruise port.

    Nice hotel in the middle of nowhere- and nothing around

    This is a nice hotel but in the middle of nowhere. Had to get to Raveena to take the cruise and this was booked but the Cruise company. There is nothing around this hotel. No restaurants , no mini markets , just in the middle of a park. Rooms were nice. Staff were professional and helpful. Food in the restaurant was average and you had no option but to use them. They keep advertising the Chef but in my view it wasn't great quality food. If you just need a hotel for a night to get onto a cruise this maybe okay . But i suggest a hotel to town so you can see a bit of Ravenna before you start your cruise.
