    A Quiet Getaway Close to Vatican

    The Bloom hotel is not located in a crowded area; it is near the Vatican and north of Trastevere. I t is in a gated complex and is surrounded by trees and flowers with drink fountain and supermarket across the road. We had the family room with two balconies with beautiful view of the dome. Big bathroom. Breakfast buffet has plenty of choices. It takes about 20 -30 minutes walk to Trastevere as we have to walk via the bridge. We enjoyed walking to restaurants in Trastevere and the Jewish quarter and one evening we just crossed the road to the quiet Saint Peter's Square.Hotel has lifts and parking space.

    Don’t understand the inflated ratings

    The service was excellent, and everyone was very nice. But overall I found this hotel highly overrated.First off, the location is not great. Yes, it’s a ten minute walk to the Vatican, but difficult to get to and from almost anywhere else. What you don’t realize until you arrive is that the hotel is cut off from the city to the east and south. So even though it looks close to the centre of Rome on the map, it’s a long, circuitous walk to get there (or anywhere, unless you’re travelling by train through St Pietro station). It’s also a very quiet, and somewhat dull neighbourhood.The rooms were average at best, with hard uncomfortable beds, and not much space to store your things (very few hooks to hang things from, which is important in humid Rome). At the end of our trip we stayed one night in another hotel across town and I wish we’d stayed there instead of Bloom. It was in such a great, vibrant area with easy connections to the rest of the city.

    The hotel is definitely recommended. Location close to the Vatican.Great service, very helpful. Delicious breakfasts. Delicious coffee. It smells beautiful in hotels and the rooms are clean. You can eat well in the area and there are grocery stores nearby
