    We stayed one night at this small hotel at the entrance to the old city. The staff were lovely. Helpful, friendly, and so accommodating. Our room was basic but well appointed and the amenities indicated that thought and care had gone into them. Breakfast was basic but good, and the espresso made to order was very good. I would recommend this place for a one or two nights stay without hesitation.     They say what makes a home are the people who inhabit it, and none are finer than Eleonora and Elisa at the Hotel Vecchia Olivera SAS. From the moment we arrived, I felt a warm sense of hospitality that truly made our stay exceptional.To give a bit of backstory, we originally booked an Airbnb down the road, but after a mix-up with our reservation, our hosts recommended a few nearby hotels. My wife and I chose Hotel Vecchia Olivera, and we couldn’t have been luckier!Eleonora, who’s been praised countless times in reviews, lived up to every word. Her personality is magnetic—vibrant, welcoming, and effortlessly down-to-earth. When we arrived, she mentioned we had accommodations from our other host, but I playfully asked for her finest room. She obliged, showing us to the VIOLA room. It had a stunning view that took our breath away—absolutely priceless. The room was charming, painted beautifully, and felt intimate and inviting.Eleonora took the time to show us around, explaining the breakfast options, the pool, and other activities. She immediately secured reservations for us at two fantastic local restaurants—both were out of this world. Breakfast each morning was simple yet delightful. The fresh fruit, meats, and a luscious juice blend of carrot, orange, and lime were just the right start. Her cappuccino was outstanding, and the little personal notes on the cutlery added a lovely touch.On our first morning, we mentioned our plan to visit Pienza, and Eleonora recommended a small osteria in Monticchiello. She wasn’t exaggerating—the view from our table was as spectacular as the meal, and the local olive oil and ricotta flan was unlike anything we’ve ever tasted.Though the hotel is rated three stars, it deserves much more. Yes, the room could have been bigger, and there could have been more amenities, but that’s not what makes a stay memorable. Sure, we could have had a larger TV with Netflix—but really, are you here to watch Netflix? If so, maybe it’s time to reconsider your priorities!On our final day, we met Elisa, who was just as gracious and warm. She kindly assisted us with breakfast, helped us load our luggage and gave us directions to Siena and Pisa as we made our way back to Florence.

    Beautiful, Location, Gracious, Perfetto!

    Our first visit to Montalcino (my parents and sister are repeat customers here). Perfection! Our rooms, our gracious and beautiful hostesses, Eleanora and Elisa. VIEWS!! Our room had the most amazing views (#9, Viola). Our daughter had a 2 bedroom suite to herself & thought who she was (#11, Rosa). A lovely breakfast every morning. Loved every moment & can’t wait to come back!     What a wonderful night stay!! Elonera was amaing and made our experience brilliant. Nothing was ever a problem, she went over and beyond gave fantastic recommendations. Accomodation was basic but comfortable and had fantastic views! Breakfast was quite good.     Personal and Beautiful

    I stayed at this hotel for one week with my mother and we absolutely adored it. We woke up to spectacular, pinch-me-it-can't-be-real views every morning and honestly, any time of day it was amazing to look through our windows. The pool was wonderful with lots of space to relax around it. Private parking as well is a bonus in this city. The staff at this establishment were so very kind and accommodating. They exceeded our expectations of hospitality and were beyond wonderful. The room itself was always very clean and comfortable. There was a TV in the room but with how busy we were, we didn't need to use it! The city of Montalcino had so much to offer that we were out most of the day and this hotel was amazing to just unwind. There are other rooms in this hotel, but it is always so quiet that you wouldn't know there are other people there. It was incredibly serene. The shower had a rainfall setting which was wonderful. Their commitment to being eco friendly is also really lovely. The breakfast they serve is amazing! Croissants, cappuccino, fruit, prosciutto and cheeses were all delicious. Above all for us, the staff really shines here. I would definitely recommend staying here!
