  Huge fine for driving to the front of the hotel to check in!

  On arriving at the village, the hotel directed me to drive to the front of the hotel to unload my luggage, but the hotel failed to inform me that by doing so, I would incur a fine of more than 200 Euros from the local municipality, which doesn’t allow local traffic! Now, the hotel refuses to take responsibility. Famiglia Genovese, Proprietario at PALAZZO DEL CAPITANO Wellness & Relais - Luxury Borgo Capitano Collection, responded to this review Dear readers,We feel it is necessary to provide some objective clarifications regarding this review, in order to avoid misunderstandings about access to our village.San Quirico d’Orcia is a historic village entirely subject to a Limited Traffic Zone (ZTL), regulated by the Municipality, as is the case in many historic Italian town.Access for loading and unloading luggage is permitted, but the license plate must be registered through a specific form, clearly explained in the email communications received by the guest before arrival.In this specific case, the guest entered the ZTL without having completed the form, despite the instructions provided and clearly communicated; in the absence of such registration, the fine is automatically issued by the Municipal Police and cannot in any way be canceled or assumed by the property, as it is a violation of the Highway Code and not a hospitality service.We want to be very clear:Access to the historic center is permitted only in compliance with municipal regulations, which are communicated in advance;No property can be held responsible for a fine resulting from non-compliance with public regulations.Just as we could not be held responsible for a speeding fine during the journey to reach us, likewise we cannot be held responsible for entering an active ZTL gate without authorization, despite the instructions provided.We understand the frustration caused by the fine, but we believe it is correct to protect our property and provide accurate information to readers: access to our village is regulated, functions daily for hundreds of guests, and does not result in any fines if the simple procedures indicated are followed.Famiglia Genoveseand the Borgo Capitano Collection Team

  Magical experience

  Truly magical experience inside the walls of a medieval Borgo. Great location in the middle of all the Tuscan towns. You are allowed to drive through the old medieval gates to drop off your luggage. Then you can park in a free lot just down the hill. They welcome you into the lounge for a drink, and take the bags out of your car and up to the room. Everything is first class. The rooms are some of the cleanest we’ve seen and quite modern considering they’re in a 500-year-old building. As in most antique buildings, there are no elevators, but they are no more than 3 stories. The pool and garden area will make you want to spend a day relaxing, with optional massages, hot tubs, and drinks. The bathrooms were very modern with huge showers, LED mirrors, heated towel bars, and exhaust ventilation that actually works! They have their own great restaurant for the included breakfast located down through the garden, where you can also make reservations for a fantastic dinner. There are also a few restaurants and cafes in town to try out. Even a couple small bars and lounges for some nightlife. The spa was fantastic! A dimly lit private oasis just for you. Massages, steam rooms, whirlpool tubs, sitting room, private bath and shower. There were wine & cheese, options, & bottles of water. It was a truly relaxing experience. The Family that owns this Hotel also owns several other buildings in town, with B&B’s, a restaurant, specialty food store, and perfumery. They took an old dilapidated medieval town, and transformed it into a vibrant community for tourist and locals.   A hidden gem!

  This hotel is such a hidden gem and we're so thankful we found it! We found this at the last minute as we had to switch rooms from another hotel and we could not believe our luck. Not only is this hotel a hidden oasis in the charming sitting of San Quirico d'Orcia, the staff is also incredibly helpful and kind. Marco even helped us upgrade our room. We love this hotel and would absolutely stay here again.   If i could give six stars i would

  This is a great hotel….The hotel is old,but clean and fresh. The staff are very professional and friendly. The Rooms are well appointed quiet,and cleanThe garden area is beautiful,and the pool is nice..And to top it off minibar prices are reasonable ! 3 E u for a beer. The restaurant looks good,but we only ate there for breakfast. As with a lot of these hotels, there are steps and no elevator, but the staff would help if you needed it. This is one of the nicest hotels i have ever stayed at. There may be larger, more modern or even more luxurious hotels, and there will be cheaper hotels, but this hotel is perfect for tuscany.   Amazing stay in a most scenic setting!

  My husband and I stayed at the Palazzo Capitano Hotel and our 22 year old son had a room at Medieval Village San Quirico d'Orcia B&B for 5 nights. From the moment we arrived, the hospitality and attentiveness was outstanding! The Hotel was excellent and the B and B was wonderful. Beautifully decorated rooms with fantastic bathrooms. The breakfast had a great variety and the staff was always accommodating. The Trattoria for dinner has outstanding food as well as atmosphere. The Genovese family, the entire staff, and specifically the 3 sons work hard to provide a memorable perfect experience for their guests. On top of all that, the San Quirico d’Orcia location is beyond scenic as well as convenient for exploring some of the most beautiful areas in Tuscany. We had an unforgettable amazing experience and cannot recommend the Capitano Collection enough!!!
