There is potential but the management is bad... NEVER AGAIN!

    rating09 Sept 2025

For 230 € per night per room we would have expected a 4-star Service but here we are at the edge of indecency. The place has great potential but the management is clearly lacking and maintenance absent. The rooms are old (not antique, which is something else) with drawers without knobs, broken doors, kitchen falling apart, boiler in the room and air conditioners on the ground inside the room with pipes in the windows. The air conditioning cools only within 20 cm, after which it dies of asphyxiating clade everywhere in the room. And anyway, it's so noisy that the night keeps you awake and you're forced to turn it off. Mattresses are concave because they are old and of low quality. We didn't sleep a single night. A torture. The window of the bathroom has the shutters are at the top, the lower one is just glass and being the window attached to the toilet, basically from the outside everyone sees you while you are at the bathroom: we had to fit towels to the windows to cover, see the attached photos. Cleanliness leaves something to be desired. Be careful when you have breakfast outside the restaurant, because it rains bird poop everywhere. Last sore note the internal restaurant: they serve food taken from the bottom of the freezer, perhaps frozen 1-2 years earlier. All inedible and the panna cotta was curdled and sour... basically expired. I took a pork fillet that was dry and clammy and still cold inside and smelled old. The pool is equally scruffy, with mold at the edges and dirt everywhere. See the photos to believe. I usually don't stop to leave reviews of this kind but there is a limit to everything: this is just meanness towards tourists. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Great rustic venue let down by unreliable La Posteria catering

    rating29 Jun 2023

We have long experience of Linari over the past 30 years, but this was our first experience under the new ownership. The building and setting is as delightful as ever, even though the gardens are rather less well maintained than they used to be. The apartment was not well equipped for a self-catering venue with our apartment for 8 people having just a few table knives and teaspoons, but neither forks nor spoons. We had to resort to liberating some from another apartment. The anti-mosquito nets on the windows were useless in most apartments with large tears and apparently no maintenance. It is helpful having a restaurant (La Posteria) on site, with a good wine list and dishes. But after a great meal on day 1, it was extremely disappointing to discover on day 5 that the meal was absolutely awful with very slow service and the same dishes (previously great) being virtually inedible. The manager claimed it was the same chef (his wife) but along with untruths about dessert availability, and a different account from the overall manager about an experienced professional chef, the contracted catering in La Posteria is therefore at best unreliable. That meal on our last night did negatively impact our overall experience. San Lorenzo a Linari Resort , Albergatore at San Lorenzo a Linari, responded to this review Dear Guest we are delighted to have welcomed you back to Borgo San Lorenzo in Linari, a magnificent historic residence set in the green hills of Siena a few kilometers from the center of Siena. We are sorry that your second evening at La Posteria restaurant was less beautiful and suggestive than the previous one and we are surprised: the same Chef and the same raw materials and wine. We understand that our denial of your request to buy 12 bottles of excellent wine at half price may have unnerved you, but we are also sure that you should understand that it is not always possible to have everything you want. Every house has its own rules, and every product has from costs. We came to you with a 20 percent discount on the bottles and then to your complaints about the dinner we did the same thing, and to read these words of yours written perhaps out of a moment of annoyance, seems to us disrespectful, but we understand and accept everything.Perhaps we can meet again next time here at San Lorenzo in Linari and toast together to a new and better time to spend all together.See you soon.

    Something special

    rating07 May 2022

We overnight in the accommodation for the second time. We rented a large apartment for 8 people. Unfortunately, one room is slightly worse than the others. We regret that they removed the central chimney, which gave a special charm to the room. The insulation in the apartment is not the best, but everything else is excellent. The surroundings of the building are beautifully landscaped. Breakfast is great, only the lady in the bar fails to serve a larger number of guests, especially if they are hungry :) So the ham and cheese went quickly. The lady at the front desk is more than friendly and helpful. The facility is located in unspoiled nature, so you are accompanied by the singing of pheasants and the voices of deer. Sometimes you also come across an animal species that some are scared of. Wonderful, especially with the views you enjoy. I recommend. Stunning Location and a Beautiful Place to Stay

    rating26 Sept 2019

The Linari is simply fabulous. It is a beautiful converted monastery sat in the most amazing location. Our room was stunning. Simone could not do enough to help and was on hand for whatever we needed, including recommending some places to eat locally. (All fabulous!) They were kind enough to let us keep our room all day due to a late flight too. I cannot recommend the Linari enough. Thank you for an amazing stay :)

    Amazing 30th Bday celebrations

    rating29 Jul 2019

I can't be thankful enough to Michele, who made my Bday stay so amazing, helped me with booking everything, decorations, celebrations and was extremely helpful during our stay here. We went for 3 big apartments, which were lovely, clean and spacious. The pool area was the best feature of the vila and the decor is just so beautiful! Once again, we had the best time!
