Location

This historical city hotel is situated in the heart of the Sorrento peninsula, at the seaport of Sorrento. Located very near the islands, the establishment gives its guests the chance to enjoy many unforgettable excursions. It lies just 800 metres from the centre of town and there guests will find a range of restaurants, nightlife spots and public transport links. Tourist attractions can be found around 15 km away and nearby towns include Pompeii, Amalfi and Naples, which are approximately 20, 35 and 40 km away respectively. The local train station is roughly 1 km away and Naples International Airport is approximately 50 km from the accommodation.

Facility

2 single rooms and 48 double rooms are located on 5 storeys and can be reached by lift. English- and French-speaking staff at the reception desk in the lobby are ready to assist you with check-in and check-out. Amenities include a baggage storage service, safe, cash machine and drinks machine. Wireless internet access is provided in public areas. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. Souvenirs can be purchased at the gift shop. Additional facilities include a TV room. Guests arriving by car can park their vehicles in the garage or in the car park.     What an excellent boutique hotel!! Beautifully appointed decor. Great location close to ferries, city center, train, restaurant right on site. Gorgeous sea views, sunsets and rooftop pool / bar. Delicious coffee and breakfast. Staff couldn’t have been nicer especially breakfast/ bar staff Ana, Antonella, Vincente, Ciro any Cristina front desk. Restaurant next door is exceptional!! Michele and Hussain went above and beyond to make our experience memorable. HIGHLY recommend!! Looking forward to returning. Grazie Il Faro!!

    It’s a clean and decent hotel. The staff was decent but not overly friendly. When we checked in, the room was very hot and the AC wasn’t working. They couldn’t care less. We slept that first night with the patio door open to cool the room. The maintenance man came the next day and cleaned the unit and it started working. The breakfast was very limited in choices but edible.The location is terrific, and even better once we located an elevator which could take us to the top of the cliff and into town. Yes, there is one, and it saves many hundreds of steps uphill! The rooftop pool, bar and amenities were very nice and enjoyable. The attached restaurant was always busy although we found other seaside establishments and ate at those. The elevator is a little worse than typical as it would constantly need us to push the button as it would cancel the request upon moving to a different floor.All in all, the price was decent, the service lousy, the room was comfortable and the location was good (once the elevator to town was located.

    This hotel is great value given the quality of the hotel. It is located by the port so you do need to climb the stairs to get into the town etc. but it is an easy route, and taxis to get to the station were reasonably priced when we travelled with our suitcases. The room was a little on the small side but the bathroom was a good size, the staff were very friendly and the pool/bar area was a great feature too. If you're looking for functionality rather than luxury, this is a great option.

    I stayed here with my family in 2 separate rooms. My children slept in a triple. The room itself was spacious however the cleanliness was seriously lacking. Upon arrival my children smelled urine in the bathroom and discovered old urine under the bidet. I had to ask two times for it to be cleaned before they finally did something. In addition to that, the shower and sink did not properly drain so water overflow from the shower happened after three showers. My husband and I stayed in a double that was tiny and I also found previous tenant’s hairs left in the bathroom. Reception was also not very friendly or helpful. Overall, gross experience and do not recommend!

    July 12, my sister and I took a ferry from Sorrento to Amalfi. When we returned, we needed to take a taxi back to the Royal Hotel. The only taxis available were vans, so I tried to help my sister get from her wheelchair to the van. She tried, but she couldn’t manage it, and tore the skin off the front of her leg. I asked the men at the taxi station if there are any taxis that are cars, because my sister could get into those. They said no.I walked to your hotel to get help. There were 3 ladies working there. I asked the 2 ladies behind the front desk if they could help me get a taxi that was a car. Valeria and Rita were kind enough to walk outside to the taxi station with me. They explained to me what the drivers were saying in Italian. There was a man coming with a taxi who would set up a ramp from the back of the van, and was going to strap her in to safely drive us back to our hotel. Your 2 lovely receptionists stayed with us until my sister and her wheelchair were safely buckled inside.Valeria and Rita could have easily said that they couldn’t help me, when I desperately arrived at Hotel il Faro. I was worried about how I was going to get my sister back to the hotel being that it was a long day, and my sister’s leg was dripping in blood.What everybody involved in last night’s challenging situation didn’t know is that my sister has brain cancer, and it was her wish to come to visit Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast.I can’t thank Valeria and Rita enough for helping us out last evening. To have these 2 lovely ladies leave the hotel to explain what was going on, because they heard the desperation in my voice and the worry on my face when I arrived at your hotel, is VERY much appreciated! We need more caring people in this world like Valeria and Rita. Most people would not have gotten involved.Grazie Valeria. Grazie Rita.
