Beautiful views, but area lacks basic needs, lack of transport, lack of evening meals, no taxi service, unless you find your own

    rating21 Apr 2026

The hotel its self is fine, the views are stunning and the best around. Staff are friendly enough. Hotel do not have access to cab service, after 3:30pm you cannot get anything to eat at all, there are no local restaurants or cafes, there is no bus service either. The walk to the nearest cafe is 30-40 minutes along a narrow path on one side of the road. The breakfast is quite limited to rolls, cakes, two cereals, cold meat and cheese, toast would have been nice. If you stay here and the views are stunning, you must hire a car or scooters, the taxi is 50 euros so works out quite expensive especially as you have to find somewhere to eat in the evenings

    Disappointing Stay

    rating05 Oct 2025

Our experience at Hotel Mega Mare was far from enjoyable. From the moment we arrived, the room smelled strongly of cigarettes, which made it uncomfortable to relax. Most of the staff were rude and unaccommodating throughout our stay.Every morning, we were called and woken up so they could clean the room — not exactly the hospitality you’d expect on vacation. On one occasion, because we didn’t leave early enough, we were told at 14:15 that cleaning services were finished for the day and our room would not be cleaned at all.Late one night, while talking in normal voices, we were told the next day that we needed to keep our voices down at night — even though we weren’t being loud. On top of that, around 2:00 a.m., someone was calling and knocking on our door, but we didn’t answer because we were alone and there was no peephole to see who it was. It was unsettling and made us feel unsafe. The on-site food options were extremely limited, and to make matters worse, you’re not allowed to bring in outside food or eat in your room, which was very inconvenient. Also, if you plan to stay here, make sure you rent a car. The location is quite isolated, and a cab into Sorrento costs about €50 one way.Overall, between the rude service, strange rules, lack of flexibility, safety concerns, and poor location, I would not recommend staying at Hotel Mega Mare.

    Stay away

    rating28 Sept 2025

The bedroom/air-conditioning would be impressive if it was 1988. The place is run like a primary school. We got told it was "impossible" to move one of the umbrellas outside. It's not Thors hammer like. We could not use the pool until exactly 11am. 5 minutes early, no chance. Being watched like a prisoner. The manager/owner is like an unfriendly version of the chap that follows you in Thomb Raider. How this place is in business is beyond me. The food is pure garbage. The only thing going right for this spot is the pool and the view. Other than that it would be closed down a long time ago. Never again would I go back to this camp.

    Absolutely stunning view

    rating22 Aug 2025

We stayed in room 101 and OMG WOW- that view and balcony is amazing. Room was clean, great phone signal but no in-room wifi. Pool and surrounding area was lovely. Hotel staff are attentive. Breakfast was very basic but this didn’t bother us. The only downside is that you NEED your own transport. The first night we walked to the train station, took about 30mins. Then the train into Sorrento did not arrive at the time advertised (we waited 30mins past the time) and a taxi back to the hotel cost us £30! In total, we spent £100 the first day on taxis!!!!! The next day, we hired a Vespa (the hotel provide details of a company who meet you at reception) and it was the best money spent! Would stay again just for that view!

    VERY RUDE OWNER

    rating04 Jul 2025

I’ve stayed with my partner here some time, the second star I’m giving is exclusively for the breathtaking view other than that it’s not ideal. The place per se was clean. The breakfast selection is very poor, worst hotel breakfast I ever had tbt. But keeping it real, the staff was sweet, the biggest complaint I have is how rude and ill behaved the “director” he’s an elderly man that supervises the place. He’s utterly rude to his own employees and shames the in front of the guest. Very disrespectful. Makes up rules in the moment and is not able to communicate in a polite manner when certain things are “not allowed” even though he has not instructed anyone about things, very misleading. Other than the isolation, he’s definitely left a bad impression on us. Such a shame cause it’s a lovely place. Mariano Sessa, Proprietario at Hotel Mega Mare, responded to this review When trying to enforce hotel rules, guests aren't always able to accept them. The manager's role is to enforce the rules; just as they do with guests, employees must also follow them.
