    Nice, quiet hotel in Venice

    rating09 May 2026

We recently stayed at Hotel Aquarius in Venice and overall had a very good experience. The hotel was extremely clean and well maintained, which we appreciated throughout our stay. The breakfast each morning was excellent with a great variety of fresh options, and the courtyard was a beautiful spot to relax with drinks in the evening. The bar itself was also very good and a nice place to unwind after long days exploring Venice. One thing to note is that the hotel is a bit off the main tourist paths, so expect to walk a short distance to reach most major Venice attractions. That said, the surrounding area is pleasant, quieter, and felt more authentic, with a handful of small shops and local restaurants nearby. The only real downside for us was the exercise space, which was very limited. If having a proper fitness facility is important to you, this may be disappointing.Overall, a clean, comfortable hotel in a nice part of Venice with excellent breakfast and a lovely atmosphere.

Very good base for 4 nights in Venice

    rating23 Apr 2026

We have just returned from a trip to Venice, staying at Hotel Aquarius. What a great hotel. We loved the location, away from the bustle of San Marco, in a local piazza that is full of community life. So many interesting places were accessible. The piazza had a little Co-op, good bars and restaurants and local shops. We got the Alilaguna water bus to San Stae arriving from the airport but walked to the bus station, about 10 to 15 minutes, and caught the bus to the airport going home. Both ways worked well. Our room was lovely, comfortable, well supplied, clean, quiet. Breakfast was superb, wonderful choice, helpful serving ladies, beautiful room.We would definitely recommend and return Best tip….if you decide to go to Murano, go on the 4.1 vaporetto line from Ferrovia. It’s a longer journey but you get to see so much more of Venice from the water, including the entrance to the Grand Canal, St Marks Square and the area around Arsenale. Make a day of it, travel onto Burano and head back to Ferrovia. We were still able to have lunch, visit the glass museum and have a look in shops on both islands. Probably our best day.

Fabulous hotel in a great location

Beautiful building and clean spacious rooms. Comfortable bed and delicious breakfast. All the staff were very welcoming and polite. The hotel is on a quiet square away from the main noise which is perfect. Hotel is only 10mins from the Railto bridge and 20mins from St Marks square. The bus/ train station is about 15mins walk. There a coop shop just outside for drinks and snacks. Was a lovely hotel and would definitely recommend for couples.

Avoid at All Costs – Complete Lack of Customer Care

    rating09 Apr 2026

I made a reservation at this hotel, which was non-refundable and fully paid in advance.Unfortunately, our flight was canceled one day before arrival due to the air traffic controllers’ strike in Italy—completely beyond our control. We informed the hotel immediately, yet there was absolutely no flexibility, and the full amount of 300 euros was simply retained.Even more frustrating, according to their own policy, even a flexible rate would not have helped, as free cancellation is only possible 7–8 days in advance—something clearly impossible in this situation.Instead, I am now expected to rely on a vague promise of a discount for a future stay, without knowing if or when I will ever return.I made the reservation directly with the hotel, and in such an exceptional situation, an exception could have been made. Not recommended.

Very Misleading and Deeply Unpleasant Stay

    rating04 Apr 2026

I booked a two-bedroom apartment through Expedia, but what was not made clear is that these apartments are not actually part of the hotel itself. Ours was located externally, down a narrow alleyway beside the hotel, and did not feel like part of the main property at all. It also did not appear to come with the advertised four-star facilities, and there was no housekeeping. Overall, it felt very misleading.I was travelling alone with my three young children and we arrived late. In the apartment, every time a light was switched on or off, the electrical consumer unit made a very loud clunking noise. Reception told me this was “normal,” but I have travelled extensively and have never experienced anything like it before. Given that the apartment was up steep stairs and had no obvious fire escape, I felt extremely uncomfortable and asked to move. The hotel’s proposed solution was completely unacceptable: they suggested splitting me and my children across two different floors. My children are 11, 8, and 3, so that was never an option. The next morning, after a lengthy complaint, I was eventually shown a room inside the hotel. I was told it would accommodate all four of us, but when we moved in, it only had three beds, leaving my 11-year-old daughter offering to sleep on the floor. This was despite the fact that we were paying close to £400 per night for the apartment. To make matters worse, when I explained that I was unhappy with this, the manager became confrontational rather than helpful. Instead of addressing the situation, he made inappropriate personal remarks, which I found completely unprofessional.Overall, this was a thoroughly unpleasant experience. The apartment was tired, scuffed, and gaudy, and although the hotel room was slightly better, the whole place felt heavily compromised by cost-cutting, from the cheap toiletries to the lack of proper blankets.I would strongly advise anyone booking here to be very careful, particularly with the so-called apartments, as they are not what they appear to be.
