Location Ideal and very clean & quiet

    rating21 May 2025

We went as a family, we each had a single room and one twin all with ensuite, The rooms are very clean and quiet, it was excellent for our needs, a 5min walk to Piazze Roma where there is the main bus station and a vapporetto stop. after a long day of walking, we relaxed in the lovely garden in the evening, all the staff were friendly and helpfull, we all felt safe and would definitly return to stay again Casa Caburlotto Venezia, Direttore generale at Casa Caburlotto, responded to this review Thank you!

If you are looking for quiet friendly accommodation away from the crowds this is the place to stay. The staff were friendly and helpful. Accommodation is basic and no frills but was very comfortable and all you need. Breakfast was served by the friendly sisters and was fresh and tasty. Careful of the room without ensuite bathroom

    rating09 Jul 2024

The room I initially was promised was changed to one without a bathroom (the bathroom is down the corridor). This came as a truly unwelcome surprise to me. I didn't see that in the confirmation email, which came after I had sent my credit card details, the hotel had switched my room to one without a bathroom. Because the price was the same as the room WITH the bathroom, I missed the mention further down in the email that the room had no ensuite bathroom. No where in that email was it flagged to me that the room had been changed. The word "change" wasn't mentioned - with such a massive change, this needed to be made very clear. I would never have stayed had I known. They knew that, probably, and so preferred to not draw my attention to that. When I arrived I was told, in an accusatory tone by one of the young female receptionists, that I had been reassigned to the room without a bathroom because of not responding to their last email quicker. She did promise to look into changing me to a room with a bathroom on the last of the 3-day stay. When I asked at reception on day 2 (now a different young woman) to confirm the move, she said her colleague hadn't passed on the message and that she had now sold that other room. Again, very unkindly, she reiterated that it was my fault for not responding to the earlier email about the original room quickly enough. I asked to be given the room I was promised for the 3rd night (one WITH a bathroom), to which she said I wouldn't get it, again in a punitive and infantilising tone. I did make it clear to her that it was absolutely the hotel's fault this time and not mine.In light of this unfortunate series of exchanges, I have warned my colleagues not to stay here again, and will advise the organisers take this hotel off the list of places to stay at future events. It's ridiculous to be subjected to this kind of treatment. The prices are high in comparison to the very basic utilities (small single beds, no TV, minute pieces of soap), but then again, it's Venice which will always draw tourists. The view is lovely, and the nuns serving breakfast are very kind. The reception is disappointing, and the sneaky change of room, and failure to move me when the option was there, doubly unacceptable. Casa Caburlotto Venezia, Direttore generale at Casa Caburlotto, responded to this review We made an offer to you for the room with ensuite, asking to confirm within 2 days. You replied 6 days after just confirming the reservation, without asking IF that room was still available. Meanwhile that room (last available) was already sold, so we confirmed the room with bathroom on the corridor PRIVATE, highlighting and underlining. You are still not recognizing your fault... And you are even saying that we have high prices, without knowing how more expensive are the other accommodations in Venice historic center. We have thousands guests paying much more than you, staying in the same room you had, who enjoyed very much the stay here.

Read reviews (and responses) before you book.

We didn’t think our stay would come with so many restrictions. I was traveling with my 2 daughters and I wish I had read more reviews on this hotel before booking. We knew of the curfew from 12am-6am and we had no problem with it. We were made aware multiple times about this rule. The rest, we were not made aware of. A breakfast “buffet” should not come with restrictions. The breakfast options are VERY limited. One of my daughters is vegan and there was nothing for her to eat, not even a single piece of fruit. I was given a warning by one of the nuns not to take a second cup of coffee and that it is one coffee per person. How ridiculous is that? My other daughter doesn’t drink coffee and they still wanted to give me a warning. I was so embarrassed and that ruined the rest of the trip for me. I am a catholic person, but they made me feel like I am sinning every time I ate. The nuns are always watching you even when you think they are not. They make you feel like you’re a horrible person for taking 2 pieces of bread instead of one. The coffee cups are so small you are practically getting one or two sips of coffee and they don’t let you get any more. In the meantime, on our last morning, we saw one of the sisters making herself a cup of coffee in a cup that is 3 times bigger than the ones they give to guests. The room conditions are not great either. The walls are peeling and falling apart and the room is filled with mosquitos. They have a mosquito repellent in the room that does not work at all. After our daily hunt for mosquitos in the room, we would still wake up with multiple new bites each. By the end of our 5 night stay, we were covered from head to toe in mosquito bites. Remember to bring your own soap and shampoo as well because the amount they give you is only enough to cover one arm. They give you the smallest amount of soap and expect you to use that for 3 days before giving you a new one. The reception staff was great and very kind and friendly but that was the only positive I can give about our stay. Casa Caburlotto Venezia, Direttore generale at Casa Caburlotto, responded to this review We are terribly sorry for the treatment received by the nuns... We do not understand why they behave so badly during the breakfast..

    Peaceful, Clean & Fantastic location

    rating23 Mar 2024

Peaceful, clean, fantastic location. We loved our stay, beds were very comfortable and the bathroom was great which included a bidet and lovely hot shower. Room temperature was pleasant throughout our stay and the convenience of the buffet breakfast was a added bonus to have before our daily sightseeing activities. Friendly staff, we would definitely recommend this hotel and will stay here again the next time we visit.
