    64 steps to heaven

    As first-time visitors to Venice and Italy, Hotel Orion was a very nice place to stay. Our room was on the 4th floor, and I counted 64 steps to our door. We loved it. There is a 5th floor too. Ask for a room on the lower floors if you prefer fewer stairs. There is no lift.We liked everything about this hotel. All the front desk staff were friendly, the breakfast each morning was so good and plentiful, and the staff in the breakfast room always attentive. You cannot beat the location. Piazza San Marco is about 5 minutes away. The Square and Basilica were always buzzing. We walked everywhere - to the Bus Station at Piazzale Roma, to the Venezia Santa Lucia train station, and to Fondamente Nove for the boat to Murano. It was an excellent place to rest after a day of planned activities - and sometimes in the middle of the day between activities.The double room is spacious for two people, the bathroom was a good size too, though the shower was a little tight.We booked 4 nights and enjoyed every one of them.     What a wonderful find. Staff, especially the breakfast lady, were exceptionally friendly. Location was unbeatable as was value. Yes the rooms are small but the price was still exceptional given the location.To be able to walk (<10 mins) across St Marks Square from the airport ferry to the hotel was brilliant.     Very reasonprice hotel. Ideal base for exploring Venice. Rooms clean and breakfast good. All staff seemed very friendly. We just had basic room which was great for us. Only thing no lift but stairs are fine. Only about 100 meters to st marks square and about 400 meters to rialto bridge, great location. Water bus 18 euros each to airport. Takes 50 mins.     Great stay but if mobility is an issue ask for a lower floor as no lift.

    The staff were welcoming on our arrival.The hotel was very clean and tidy.The included buffet breakfast was of good choice and plentiful.The room was serviced every morning and lovely furniture.The only issue we had as we are both limited mobility, our room was on the 4th floor and so many steps 64 to be exact (yes, we did count on the last day).I take some blame in this as I should have emailed ahead.We are happy to stay in this hotel again but a lower floor next time.

    The room was very quiet, very clean and the location was perfect. I strongly recommend. One of the best accommodation I ever had in Venice. The staff is also very friendly.A walking distance to every location, in the heart of Venice. If I need to criticize something is just the hairdryer.
