  A gem of a hotel

  just returned from 5 days in Venice at Hotel Scandinavia. What a lovely little hotel. We were most impressed with the personal aspect of it. No restaurant other than for breakfast or a bar but that did not matter as there are so many bars and restaurants close by. The rooms are comfortable and cool. Beds clean and very comfy. Its in a good location and walkable to many of the sights. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful with nothing too much trouble. They kindly suggested a porter to help with our baggage to the water taxi location and booked it for us. Nothing to complain about here at all and would not hesitate staying here again and will absolutely recommend it to others.

  Fantastic cosy hotel in the heart of it ..

  Hubby and I stayed for 2 nights to celebrate my birthday ..great little hotel location was amazing thank goodness as there’s lots of walking in Venice fab (extra tip the restaurant/cafe just next door very reasonable and very tasty) .. I booked a delux double room with square view no 32 the room was traditional Venetian style very clean the bathroom was spotless in-fact we wondered if it was brand new and we were the first to use it ? The gentleman on reception was friendly welcoming and helpful the bed was very comfortable thank goodness as Italian beds I find can be very hard .. breakfast was fairly simple not sure if there was a cooked option we didn’t bother asking as we were more than happy with what was on offer I personally loved the hot chocolate/coffee machines not being a coffee snob hubby loved the fresh ground coffee espresso lovely fresh pastries cakes breads fresh fruit salad yogurt cereals continental meats cheeses etc good quality food and the really lovely friendly lady (apologies for not getting people’s names) (who may have doubled up as housekeeping) who made sure we had everything we needed was fab… the place had a very homely friendly feel and was an excellent base to return to after a long tiring day exploring.. the price we felt was great value 29th April to 1st May there was a little bit of street noise being on the front of the hotel and only on the 1st floor but not major I think we were so tired we were soon asleep in the cosy.. we would if we ever returned would definitely head to this charming friendly hotel .. if they could improve anything at all it would be to have a couple of complimentary bottles of water in the fridge (mini supermarket 2 min walk away) and we only had one socket in the room 2 USB sockets didn’t work so I had to charge my phone in the bathroom (not sure about health & safety on that one) but it wasn’t the end of the world .. thank you to the staff for jacking us feel welcome and comfortable … extra tip if flying into/out of Venice airport the water bus/ taxi across to Venice is great it’s cheap and easy to use

  Perfect location to explore Venice

  The Hotel Scandinavia is perfectly situated to explore all the sights of this beautiful city.We were allocated Room 30 which is on the top (4th) floor and enjoys a balcony overlooking the rooftops of Venice. The room was clean, with a modern bathroom and effective air conditioning.As it is situated at the rear of the hotel you were not aware of any noise from the main square. The staff were all so helpful and friendly. All in all, a great place to use as a base for visiting all the famous landmarks.

  We enjoyed our stay very much, with the location (we overlooked the Square and were not disturbed by the noise), en-suite (large, well stocked for towels and toiletries), breakfast (good choice, clean room, plenty of savoury, sweet and drinks) and wi-fi connection. The service and welcome from all of the Reception staff was excellent, with special mention to Nikola and Andrea who advised us on local eateries and Alilaguna service. Unlike some Italian hotels, there were carpets on the stairs, so we did not find it noisy.The reason for 4 stars and not 5 - There seems to be some general maintenance required and we hope that this is read and acted on, maybe it's down for over Winter - marks/scuffs on walls, curtains in room not hanging/closing, no kettle in room or guest drinks/refreshment area to sit.TIP - book directly with the hotel like we did. Price and room are better, and you're the customer of the hotel, not those online booking agents.
