  RIU Montego Bay - 2 weeks - our experience

  Third time to this resort, first time at end May/start June.Welcome was great, room was good, probably needing a bit of an update, and that’s planned for August, they are still taking pride looking after the hotel and the guests daily though. It’s also the people who help make the holiday memorable, the Entertainment Team, particularly De Niro and Genius - you bring the warmth, fun and make us smile loads. For the evening shows, we found RIU Montego Bay had a greater variety of performance shows, supported by the bigger stage set up. The Palace gave a more chilled and relaxed vibe. Both really good, just different. Steel band night, highly recommend.Winston for us, is the pool bar king giving smiles a plenty, laughs every day and he always remembers your drinks!Buffet restaurant was consistently good, Biggie Don is the epitome of perfect customer relations and service.Vogue bar for excellent cocktails, good vibes and Archer, whose mixology and fab humour equals a fun night. A third visit and did not disappoint, a couple of rainy days but aside that, weather was great and a fab holiday and sad to leave. There are many staff, the grounds people, cleaning team, security - you do a fantastic job and are appreciated. Looking forward to seeing the refurbished RIU Palace.   Just coming to an end of two fabulous weeks here.The hotel staff at this hotel are fantastic, nothing is too much trouble. Any minor issues were dealt with quickly with a follow up call later to check all was goo. The hotel itself is sandwiched between two other Riu hotels, both of which are more lively than the Palace. The Palace is more relaxed but you have the option to visit either hotel but they can’t visit the Palace. The beach is kept spotless all the time.The rooms are spacious with a jacuzzi bath in the middle. The room is made up to a high standard daily. The mini bar is filled up daily with water, beer & fizzy drinks. The hotel is extremely clean in all areas. The food is in my opinion excellent with a large variety in the buffet. The food in the speciality restaurants again is excellent. You do have to book them but we had no problem. At lunch time & early evening you get a large amount of aircraft taking off directly over the hotel which you’ll either love or hate. To be honest it’s no problem at all. There are no flights at night. This hotel is closing I believe in August for a full refurbishment, so when it reopens it will be even better…if that’s possible. Only negative I could find if any was the Wi-Fi was very hit & miss but that’s all.   After returning to the hotel with my daughter I was hoping the experience would be as good as our first visit and it didn’t disappoint in fact it was more enjoyable , every member of staff are credit to the hotel from the cleaners who work constantly (anyone saying the hotel is dirty are lying) to the beach cleaners and gardeners , but a special mention must go to certain people who really made our holiday great with their great friendly and attentive service Audley ,causten and donisha (excuse the spellings ) were fantastic ! And also the entertainment team with a big shout out to genius who made an effort to come and find us on our departure !The good everyday was great and the drinks in all the bars quality , yes there are parts of the hotel that need updating which is happening this year but these a very small points that don’t affect anyone’s stay ! Hopefully will return asap !!!!   Amazing 2 weeks

  We have a lovely 2 week stay here in may for our 10 year anniversary. We had an amazing time and met some lovely people. The beach and food is amazing. The beach is warmand crystal clear. So much choice of food, they had a Jamaican section and we seemed to gravitate to the jerk chicken with rice and peas and salad. The staff work so hard and our room was immaculately clean. The hotel is 1 of 3 and ours was the quietest one while the other 2 are lively. Because we are the palace we can use all 3 but they cannot come to the palace. The entertainment team are just amazing and talented and will always make the effort to come over and talk to you, this we loved. The waitresses work so hard, we soon gravitated to 2 main waitresses Christine during day time on buffet and biggie in the evening they were so professional hard working and really stood out. Nothing was ever too much trouble and we were taken care of very well. Riu please recognise these hard working waitresses they deserve some credit as they are a credit to Riu palace. We also want to say we always bumped into jarrett the cleaner he didn’t clean our room but he was always smiling so welcoming and professional. He took the time to greet us and was just the most genuine guy. We heard they are refurbishing the palace and if it’s anything like the Montego Bay next door, it’s going to be stunning and well worth booking. We just want to say thankyou to all the staff for all your hard work. It’s not an easy job to do in the heat but you are all so professional and hard working. If anyone books this hotel please recognise how hard these peopleWork for their money. Treat them well. Looking forward to booking in the future.   Wonderful staff

  We stayed in May the 12 for one week for our second stay in the last 5 months . Check in as the other time done by some great people at the check in .we stayed in the second floor this time instead of the third back in December . Room was nice always cleaned fridge always refiled every day with water beer and soda . The only bad thing about the second floor was the guest's that stayed there who forgot there manners at home . Never saw or heard so much slamming of the doors around midnight when they would return to their rooms screaming and yelling just to disturb other guests . Restaurants all good especially the Krystal which was our favorite with great food especially the Octopus which was so good .. Seaside Steak house very good steak along with the rest of the food . I was disappointed and thought they had no lobster . My wife saw the table behind us where all served lobster . Well I asked the waiter about this and he told me not to worry they would take care of it which they did .Zen Asian restaurant this one is always a surprise for us . Very tasty and good food . L'Acquedotto the Italian this one was a bit disappointing our food was way over cooked . Buffet breakfast and lunch . Lots of choices even for a picky eater pasta burgers salads beef chicken fruits cheese desserts you name it they had it . Food was very tasty and good . Lobby the coffee they serve by the bar was always a great place for a stop for a good coffee before or after dinner . Hanover pool bar guys always making some great drinks and not much waiting to get a drink . Only complaint I would have is why not put the water for guests who are by the pool by 8 am instead of waiting till 10am when the bar opens to get a nice glass of cold water . Chill out bar great place to get a coffee which I did every day before 6am . Did we enjoy ourselves we did and for sure we will return to this place which we love everything about it .
