  Great location near JR Station in Kyoto

  This hotel is very conveniently located 10 min from the JR Station where the Shinkansen arrives, so you can easily walk there with your luggage. I was travelling with my 2 daughters so we had to connecting rooms, one with a double bed and another with 2 twins. The way their room with the twin beds was arranged made it quite small even though the surface was the same as mine, but it was convenient enough and having 2 bathrooms was nice. To be noted: there are windows in the room, but as the building is quite close to another, the glazing of the windows offers no view. As to the breakfast, to us, it was a point that needed improvement. Indeed, the buffet offered very limited options for continental eaters and we would need to complement it on the go. But all in all, this hotel was a very sensible choice in Kyoto.

  Basic but clean. Good if you just need a base.

  Convenient location for Kyoto station. Rooms are small but clean. Nowhere to unpack so deffo travel light. Tiny bathroom but again clean enough. Breakfast was basic. Very limited range. Sterile dining room. Wouldn’t stay more than a couple of nights.

  Cosy Hotel, Great Location in Kyoto

  The hotel location is fantastic. It is very close to Kyoto Station. To walk to the Shinkansen and JR lines, it is best to use the Kyoto Avanti mall "underground lunkway" to the train station.Kyoto Station is very huge and confusing, there are many train lines. I suggest you give yourself ample time to navigate around the train station.The room is tiny as expected. Nonetheless it is functional. There are laundry facility (500 YEN for 3kg wash and dry) which is convenient but it was always occupied.The breakfast is included in my room rate.   The Sotestsu Kyoto-Hachijoguchi was my second Sotetsu hotel in Japan and did not disappoint. I stayed two nights and had a comfort double room - it was one of the more spacious rooms I stayed in whilst visiting Japan. Everything looks to be very new and well kept. You can request to have your room made up every day if you wish. Staff downstairs were very helpful and spoke good English. They can arrange luggage forwarding for a fee if you want to avoid lugging suitcases yourself back to Tokyo and they did this for my friend which was fantastic. They had complimentary umbrellas you could borrow for inclement weather which was so helpful. The coin laundry was the most superior I have seen in my time in Japan. The amenities bar at reception was also comprehensive. The train station is a short 3 minute walk away and the Avanti department store is 2 minutes away. The train station has many excellent restaurants and also a McDonalds if you're craving a late night junk food fix. Nearby are multiple convenience stores if you want to self cater, there is also a restaurant downstairs for breakfast (we didn't eat there though). Location was also convenient when getting around Kyoto.   It is briefly <5 mins walk to Kyoto Stn. But as you know the station itself is huge hence you have to still find you own way to the train line/ platform. You could get your room amenities from the hotel lobby with complete supply incl facial mask. The breakfast is a local kyoto style cuisine with daily different menu and we enjoyed so much. We got a connecting room for 4 of us which is huge (3 double beds).. It is just behind Avanti Mall and walking distance to Aeon with Lawson convenient shop just a stone’s throw away.
