    Train your front desk staff better. Disappointing experience from a alleged five star hotel

    I had an extremely disappointing experience at The Thousand Kyoto, primarily due to the behavior and incompetence of the front desk staff.At check-in, I was repeatedly questioned about whether I “belonged” at the hotel instead of simply being asked for my reservation information like at any professional property. It came across as unwelcoming, uncomfortable, and frankly insulting. For a hotel at this price point, guests should be treated with courtesy and professionalism — not suspicion.The service issues only continued from there. When I asked about luggage forwarding services, one staff member approached me and confidently gave me completely incorrect and confusing information. Moments later, another front desk associate contradicted everything they had said. If staff members are not 100% certain about basic guest services, they should verify the information before speaking instead of misleading guests.Overall, the front desk experience was remarkably unhelpful, disorganized, and unwelcoming. Hospitality is supposed to make guests feel comfortable and taken care of, and this hotel failed badly on that front. Considering the amount paid to stay here, I can confidently say I will never return to this hotel in my lifetime.

    The hotel is located just adjacent to the train station. It is not the most picturesque area, but very convenient to restaurants and shops. Short walk to Buddhist temple. The rooms are immaculate with nice amenities. Not a lot of space to unpack, but that seemed the norm at all the hotels in Japan we stayed out. Service is outstanding. Always someone available to guide you or answer questions. Breakfast buffet very varied. Lots of choices. The room is controlled by iPad, so maybe a learning curve for those of us less techy 🤣 Would definitely recommend.

    Stay for 1 night with expensive points but well that's okay because the hotel next to kyoto station, bed was comfortable, the curtain and lamp can be adjusted using the tablet. After all as I Prefer Titanium member this place was good enough. Thank you
