  Cozy Respite After Busy Days

  The Hanare by Tokyo Stay in Keyoto was a lovely stay. We greatly appreciated the little extra touches… soft drinks, wine, snacks, washing machines in each room and the very kind and helpful staff. We would absolutely return. Great central location. Extremely firm beds… but that is Japan.

  Fabulous Hotel in the Center of Kyoto

  I am here in Kyoto for a couple of weeks in April 2026, to check out the cherry blossoms, food, temples and shrines.  I was told to expect very expensive hotel rooms in Kyoto for this popular time.  How pleasantly surprising to find this gem of a hotel, on a quiet street, but very very close to the center of Kyoto, a 2 minute walk to a major transit hub Karasuma-Oike Station (which is the cross-roads of the two major subway lines:  Karasuma [north/south] and Tozai  [east/west]).  I had a large, twin-bed room, which had two comfortable twin beds in it (these are significantly larger than an American "twin" bed, closer to the size of a normal "full size" or "double" bed), a small table/desk and a stool and a chair.  A hot water kettle (for making tea, important for a tea drinker like myself!), a full bath in the bathroom and the ubiquitous Toto washlet toilet.  Also:  microwave and small fridge with a separate freezer (not a small compartment in the fridge), plus a few plates, cups, glasses, silverware, etc. so that you could have a small meal in the room if you wanted.  My room faced the mountains to the west, and was above the rooftops of Kyoto, so it was a pretty amazing experience, from which you could see sunsets each evening.  Also, I could open my window, which was so important to me, to be able to get fresh air.  I can tell you I had at least one Gin and Tonic in the room looking out over the mountains!But for a long-term traveler like myself, what was really mind-blowing was that my room had a combined unit washer/dryer in it, which I was able to use several times during my stay, a huge help to me as I packed fairly minimally, so when clothes got dirty, it was such a blessing to be able to get them clean again for the balance of my trip, all while doing other things (like, for instance, writing this review).The hotel staff were quite helpful in explaining the features and amenities to me, which included (in the price of the hotel room, no extra charge) four different kinds of sake for drinking/sampling, a large community foot pool to relax your feet in after a long day of walking in Kyoto, a fully featured coffee machine and a fresh water/soda machine. Breakfast, included in my room rate, was about 10 steps away from the front door in a smaller restaurant directly in front of the hotel (on the property, literally a 5 second walk from the front door), and included, in a compact space, Japanese and western options, and included one cooked to order item from the menu of 6 choices, including an omelet, a croque monsieur, French Toast, and scrambled egg, among others.  Restaurant staff were also extremely kind and helpful in serving me.I should add that the cost was a huge part of my pleasant surprise, as the cost during this peak time was just over $205 night, all taxes and fees included.  I have been so happy here, and have been traveling around and touring daily.  I have been so happy here.

  Pleasant welcome by the receptionist upon arrival. Efficient and process was well explained. Stayed here for a week. All amenities such as shampoo, conditioner, BW, sponge, toothbrush and umbrella are provided during rainy days. Aclean hotel, air condition functions well and can request to change bed linens if staying longer. Bed and pillows are exemplary. A big room space. Free coffee (hot/cold) is provided from 7AM-11PM. There’s cold sake offered in the evening for adults (not below20yo). A comfortable place to stay as it’s close to the subway train stations and markets. Happy with the location’s overall.

  Location is quite good. Bit of a walk to main station but metro is nearby. Comfortable rooms with washing machine and microwave. Good space for cases. Breakfast was good and plentiful although no cereal. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Tvs had netflix and Amazon which could be signed into which was good as a European. There as tea & coffee available in lobby. Plenty of supermarkets nearby.

  Everything was great. The rooms were spacious and ours even had a washing machine / dryer ! Breakfast was great. Honestly cannot fault the place. Very centrally located. Service was very good. Highly recommend staying here. Very very good
