  My first time staying at this hotel chain. The hotel is located minutes from the train station. The local area is quieter with less tourists, perfect if you want to get some shopping done minus the crowds. The room is clean and small (tiny). Rooftop hot baths is a big plus. Rates are super affordable (I booked a couple of months in advance). Overall, a basic hotel with all the necessary amenities.   APA advertises itself as being able to reach most everything you need in your room from one spot. Thats code for SMALL, and the basic single/double rooms are indeed small. The beds are raised so you can put larger luggage under the bed, and you'll need to if there is more than one of you. Unit bath is clean and functional. This isn't a glam hotel - none of the APA locations I've stayed in are, but basic accommodation that won't break the bank if you book well in advance. Some of the staff speak basic English if your Nihongo is rusty or non-existent. They will allow a limited early check in time or late check out for a fee per hour. I liked this location as it was close to several places to shop and eat. I never do the breakfast included thing in Japan as I'd like to do my own thing. This hotel is kind of off the beaten track (for me anyway). I generally prefer busier locations like Shinjuku or Shibuya because of the early "last train" thing in Tokyo, but if you're not going to be out late, this would be a great option!   Good Affordable Hotel near JR Station

  This hotel was recommended by friends who were also on vacation with me and my husband. There were a total of 4 of us each in 2 separate rooms which I' only review on our hotel room.APA Hotel is a very large chain of business hotels of which this one is located in Sugamo in Toshima City. It's just one block away from the JR Yamanote and the Mita Subway Line is just right in front. JR Sugamo Station also has arte vie Sugamo which has 4 levels of shops, restaurants supermarket and bakeries. Lots of other restaurants, bars and stores are in the surrounding area.I've noticed that APA Hotels are very close to train stations and centrally located to the city centers.There is only one restaurant next to the hotel lobby which none of us visited. There is no Fitness Club. But there is a Spa Onsen on 14F with separate areas for both Men and Women. Me and our traveling friends found ourselves going in the evening after a long day of walking, sightseeing, for night time relaxing.Hotel is very safe and secure. Elevator needs your hotel room key to activate. CCTV is also present all around the hotel grounds.Rooms are very small Japanese style rooms which includes either a twin or double bed(s). Like all Asian Hotels, toiletries and Yukata are included in the bathroom. No In-room safe, but the front desk has a safety deposit box. Self-service laundry room with trouser press is near the elevators on floors 3, 4, 9 & 10.   Your standard Japanese Hotel. Budget friendly. Rooms are small like other Japanese hotels. Housekeeping everyday. Public bath available to use, a dip in hot water after a tiring day is soooo nice. 1minute walk from Sugamo station which is along the Yamanote line (the most convenient JR line to use). There are convenient stores nearby.   Great location and great Hotel

  I just stayed at this hotel for 4 nights with my family. We booked two rooms and enjoyed our stay. The room is small and just nice for Asia couple, the size of the room is 11 meter square. The bed is comfortable and consider good with this price The hotel is two minutes walk from Sugamo (Tozai Line) and five mins walk from Sugamo (JR line). JR line make it convenient to travel around Tokyo, Shinjuku etc. There is a convenient shops and Seiyu supermarket nearby the hotel. Seiyu supermarket sold nice Japanese cook food. Surrounding the hotel also have a lot of restaurants. Sugamo JR building itself have different restaurants at different level . At the rooftop, there is a hot man made onsen and can have a relax hot bath after long day shopping. Will stay in this hotel again when we visit Tokyo again.
