    One night in Tokyo

    rating11 Apr 2026

The staff was not welcoming and barely polite. Our Japanese is minimal -to say the least- and the 2 people at the desk did not speak english. NOT a big deal for us thanks to translatimg apps but we had the feeling that the staff was not friendly which was the first time and would be throughout our trip. The room was the smalest we have had during our 15-day visit to Japan. It was very clean and the booking was a last minute so we were grateful for this and had no expectations. We stayed one night.

    Great location and service

    rating01 Aug 2023

Great location, value, cleanness, and friendly staff. The room is small but it has a bathroom and storage space. Air conditioning worked well. The hotel also offers free coffee, tea, and cold drinks at certain time blocks. For the price you pay I would say this is one of the best you could have. It is within walking distance from subway station. We stayed for three nights. No complains. Well, I do have a thing to complain. I could not make the TV remote to work so I have never be able to watch TV. The remote control seems quite complicated or didn't work out easily for me.

    My favourite hotel

    rating29 May 2023

This is an old fashioned hotel and has not been modernised. However, many aspects of old fashioned have advantages. We have stayed here regularly over the years, attracted bythe hotel’s perfect location. It is a short walk to the Asakusaunderground station and the Tobu line. It is also surroundedby hundreds of shops and restaurants to suit all budgets.Sadly, the Covid epidemic has lead to some of the familiarfaces at reception having disappeared, but those remainingand the new additions maintain the same friendliness andhigh level of service. The rooms in the main building are quite spacious, with ampleroom for our four cases. Two large double beds, good lighting, plenty of electrical points for charging cameras, laptops andother travel essentials. A good sized wardrobe and chest ofdrawers. Large TV and refrigerator. Good desk and side tablewith two chairs. Not everyone travels with an IPhone so telephoneson the bedside table and in the bathroom, with outsideconnection were extremely welcome. Most of the hotels duringour trip had no phones and the few that did were only forcontact with reception.Ice machine, coin laundry and microwave available on third floor.Restaurant, with low cost breakfast on first floor and conveniencestore on the ground floor. The decor is a little dull, the carpets near the lift on the upper floorsare somewhat stained, but the space and convenience are morethan adequate compensation.

Unbelievable location, super clean and friendly staff

    rating27 Jul 2020

First off, the location is incredible - literally steps from Senso-ji. This makes it a great place to stay especially if you are a first time visitor to Tokyo and want to see the main attractions - the skytree is also within walking distance. It was my third time in the city, so I knew my way around already, but I did enjoy walking away from the tourist places and finding new sides to Asakusa as a district. The staff members were fantastic. My room was a little dated, but super clean and had everything I needed. Endless eating/drinking options on the same street, and there's even a 7-11 inside the hotel. It's also within walking distance to Ueno Station too. If you enjoy walking and want a break away from the tourist vibe of Asakua, then I recommend walking along the banks of the Sumida river - steps from hotel - from Asakusa, heading south and enjoying the little known solitude that Tokyo can provide. Not a bad stay, location is excellent

    rating29 Jan 2020

I just spent 5 nights in a single room at their main building. I love the location and how it is close to everything in Asakusa. The room was soundproofed so I didn't get the street noise. The housekeeping was done by lovely elderly ladies who leave a bag of neatly folded towels and pyjamas at your door if you have a 'do not disturb' sign out. I didn't sleep very well as the duvet was a little dirty. They use a main duvet and line it with a bedsheet on its underside which means they don't wash the duvet and change only the sheet during room service. I found dust and hairs on the duvet so I requested for extra sheets to put between myself and the duvet. The management should seriously reconsider their bedding, especially for guests who are allergic/sensitive to dust. The front desk staff were helpful enough. Oddly, they refused my request to make a table reservation for a restaurant. I approached 2 staff members and they were adamant about not providing this service to guests. Finally, after much persuasion, I managed to get a lady to very reluctantly make a call to the restaurant. It was a very strange policy.I wish to thank a front desk staff - a young, bespectacled man- who assisted me in booking a taxi on 28 Jan, around 10:45pm and very very kindly took the trouble to take my luggage out in the pouring rain for the taxi. Overall, my one and only complaint is the bedding. Otherwise, I had a good experience and the location can't be beat.
