    SIMPLY - DON'T STAY HERE

    rating31 Mar 2026

This is NOT a four star hotel, just about scraps three stars. The afternoon female receptionist when checking in on 1st April was extremely rude and uncooperative. When I was asked to pay the local tax and showed her my receipt from Booking.com which stated all taxes included, and it did not say additional may be paid at the hotel as is usual with their receipts. Okay no worries we pay, however the payment is all in Japanese (I know we're in Japan but making payments should enable us to know how much we're paying and what I am actually signing away). Worse was her response I have to work it out myself at the self service till. I ask her how I can change the language so I can pay, she laughs and says I can't. Its the ways she said it that was unnecessarily rude - fine we start to use goole translator, but the male receptionist steps in to take over and let us know the amount I am actually paying. Just unnecessary behavior that compounded what followed. The rooms are small as per Japan, but having paid extra for a larger bed for two I would have expected at least a bed we both could sleep in. It's a problem in general in Japan, but I thought I had done the research and paid the extra. I was told that is the large double, I obviously need to do more research on that point but it's one night, we're tired and so again we let it go. The amenities are poor, the 9th floor was strewn with dirty green laundry bags and extensive rubbish. We actually had to move some of the green dirty laundry bags to get our luggage to our room. The room was not as clean as expected. At that point, if we were staying more than one night I would have left and rebooked elsewhere. The plus side the male afternoon receptionist was extremely helpful and let us know the information we needed. The location is excellent, but I think you'll be able to find much, much better places to stay, than the Gracery Asakusa.

    Ideal location

    rating12 Nov 2025

The location is brilliant - we loved the proximity to the Sensoji Temple and took full advantage of the opportunity to make the 5 minute walk there before breakfast, to experience the tranquil early morning atmosphere. The local shops and restaurants were characterful and had a good vibe. Trains were easily accessible and relatively simple to use to get to other areas of the city. The hotel room was small, as expected, but the bathroom was a decent size, with a good shower and strong water pressure. The beds were comfortable, although we could have done with larger pillows. The location was quiet and we slept well each night.Breakfast was a mixture of Western and Japanese and was very good.

    Excellent location good accommodation

    rating24 May 2025

Pros: Fantastic location near to Asakusa station and therefore to Sensoji and the other sights of the area. Off the main streets and therefore very quiet.Excellent blackout blinds. Cons: Had to wait by reception until 3pm on the dot to check in (we were able to leave our luggage earlier) appreciate that this is the checkin time but even 10 minutes earlier would be wonderful when you have arrived on a 7 am long haul flight and it seemed that this wasn’t looked into.

Excellent choice if you like a super hard mattress

    rating27 Apr 2025

Great location, helpful staff, well appointed spacious room. The breakfast was excellent - had both Japanese and western dishes. However, the mattress was beyond hard, felt like sleeping on the floor - no give no springs that I could feel. Other than the mattress it was a 10/10. We were so jet lagged that it didn’t matter in the first 2 days but after that it did…

    Central Location

    rating21 Mar 2025

The USP of this hotel is its location. We took a train from Narita airport and had to walk just 5 minutes to the hotel. Similarly, the Asakusa and Ginza subway line stations are a few minutes’ walk. The twin room had just enough space for the two of us with our bags. A separate toilet and bathtub/shower area were very convenient. Hot water and shower pressure was good. You can avail of drinking water, ice and also a washing machine on the 2nd floor. The check in/check-out process was quick and efficientUmbrellas were available at reception on request. Located in a traditional area of East Tokyo, it was a calm place to stay while a short subway ride to all the sights of Tokyo
