Severe hygiene issues (caused rashes), flooded bathroom, and deceptive billing

    rating02 Jun 2026

Here is the updated review with the hotel name explicitly included. It is written in a professional yet firm tone, making it perfect for platforms like TripAdvisor, Google Maps, or Agoda.Disappointing Stay at Hotel Gracery Tamachi (ホテルグレイスリー田町) – Hygiene Issues, Poor Design, and Inconsistent BillingI have traveled extensively between North America and Japan for many years and am well aware of Japanese hospitality standards. Unfortunately, our recent stay at Hotel Gracery Tamachi was highly disappointing due to poor hygiene, design flaws, and unfair customer service.1. Unacceptable Bed Hygiene & Skin IrritationThe cleanliness of the beds was a major issue. Missing Top Sheet: The hotel failed to place a flat sheet between the duvet and the bottom sheet. Normally, this allows guests to sleep between two clean sheets without touching the heavier duvet (which is rarely washed between every guest). Because we were forced to come into direct contact with the duvet, both my child and I developed varying degrees of skin itching. My child scratched so much that their skin became red and swollen. Debris on the Mattress: There was fine grit/sand-like debris on the bed cover, causing a scratching, prickling sensation against the skin. I had to spend a significant amount of time brushing and cleaning it off myself just to make it usable.2. Defective Bathroom Drainage (Flooding)The bathroom design has serious plumbing flaws. After filling the bathtub halfway for a short soak, I unplugged it to drain. Instead of draining properly, the dirty water backed up from the floor drain right underneath the sink vanity, completely flooding the bathroom floor. The bath mats laid out on the floor were instantly soaked in filthy drainage water, forcing us to step right into it.3. Inconsistent and Unfair Billing PracticesAs an experienced traveler to Japan, I know that Japanese hotels charge per person rather than per room like in North America. At check-in, I proactively asked the front desk if there was an extra charge for three people instead of two. They explicitly confirmed that the pricing varies based on headcount. However, when I informed them that one of our family members could not make it because their flight was canceled due to a typhoon, the staff completely contradicted themselves, claiming the price was a flat rate and refusing any adjustment. This double standard and lack of flexibility during bad weather left a very bitter taste. Verdict: Between the skin rashes from unclean bedding, a flooded bathroom, and inconsistent billing policies, this stay at Hotel Gracery Tamachi was far below acceptable standards. I cannot recommend this hotel and will not be returning.

Good Peaceful and Safe Hotel and Still Centrally Located

    rating04 Apr 2026

Was at this hotel for 2 nights and my review as follows:1) LocationIt is located within 10 minutes walking distance from Tamachi Station (4 stations away from Tokyo Station) on a flat road. Most importantly, Tamachi Station has elevator/escallator so you dont have to carry your heavy luggage over any stairs. It is very easy and very safe walk from Tamachi Station to the hotel even at night. Tamachi stations has a complex/building with plenty of restaurants, cafe and even a supermarket. So overall, i really like the location as it was safe, handy and peaceful. If you are going to Haneda or coming from Haneda, there is another station called Mita Station which is literally just behind Tamachi Station and it only takes 15 mins train ride from Haneda to Mita Station. Also, surrounding the hotel, there is plenty of sakura trees and it was very peaceful and beautiful every morning.2) Check inThe manager attending to my check in was welcoming and can speak english. 3) Premier Room My booking is for Premier Room and i was given Room 1122. The Premier Room is compact size at 16m and it has standing shower only and a separate toilet area as well as coffee machine and leg massage machine. However i did not like the setting/layout of the Premier Room especially the shower area as it was transparent and open concept where i can easily wet the whole room. Therefore, I requested to a room change to Room 1023 and thankfully the manager granted my request for a normal standard room with bathtub. After much walking over Tokyo, it felt really nice to have a hot bath. The standard room is a bit old but for the price I am paying, i would say it was ok. The bed is on the firm side but it was comfortable. Overall, I prefer the standard room over the premier room but this is up to personal preference. The room does feel like a good 3 star city hotel and it is clean and bright.4) Buffet BreakfastI think for a 3 star hotel, this hotel breakfast is quite good with a few very healthy food options such as Kale Juice, Salad Bar as well as grilled fish etc. They also have almond milk, okinawa citrus juice and good coffee machine. I did enjoy my breakfast at this hotel.5) Free Coffee LoungeOn the 1st floor, the hotel offer free lounge with coffee, tea and sakura lemonade. It was nice of the hotel to allocate such spaces for guests. 6) Free AmenitiesPersonally, if i were to compare with the free ameneties provided by their sister hotel group ie. Akihabara Washington Hotel - i think the amenities provided by Akihabara Washington is better. But then what they provided is also ok.Overall, if you want somewhere peaceful but still central in Tokyo and at a low budget, this is a good 3 star hotel to consider.

Central to everything you need. Station close by. 7/11 stores everywhere for all kinds of snacks.

You are warmly greeted when arriving. We were early checking in. No worries. They have a unique baggage unit at the front desk. Just put a code in to lock bag and away we went to explore Tokyo. Main station is a 5 minute walk which then takes about 6 stations to Tokyo. The hotel room is small but you’re only there to sleep. Breakfast was enough to give us a good start. They have a lot of help yourself goodies just near the lift. We would stay here again

I recently stayed at this hotel and, overall, it was an average experience. The room was extremely small and outdated, with barely enough space to fit two regular-sized suitcases. It felt quite cramped. Unfortunately, the air conditioning didn’t work during our stay, and even after filing a complaint, the issue wasn’t resolved, which made the stay uncomfortable. While the staff were very polite and courteous, we faced significant language barriers as most of them did not speak English, making communication difficult at times. Additionally, the location is quite far from the main attractions, which made getting around less convenient than expected. In summary, while the service attitude was good, the overall comfort and convenience of the stay left much to be desired.

The hotel is in a nice location very quiet and a 8 minute walk to Tamachi station. I’m a solo female traveller and I can honestly say this was probably the most safest I’ve ever felt in a hotel. They have elevator activated key cards which are only located to the floor you’re staying on. They offer free amenities at reception like tooth brush, soap, hair brush etc..The only negative I have to say about this hotel is their breakfast. I think I ate only ate once they don’t really cater for international guest and I found the eggs were cold. But everything else was great reception very friendly and helpful.
