  Great stay but rooms are small

  This was the first hotel of our first ever trip to Japan for our family of 4. We had the family room and the kids enjoyed sleeping on the futons. Our bed was very firm. The room felt a little small with suitcases opened up and the tiny bathroom had limited storage space so we had to use the kitchen for putting toiletries and toothbrushes. Other than that it was super clean, AC worked well and the property was quiet with nice staff and convenient laundry room. No breakfast but the hotel a block away (Mystays) has a decent walk-in buffet. We enjoyed the location in a quiet residential neighborhood with Inaricho metro close by and Ueno station about 10 minutes away.   Fantastic base for Tokyo

  Our family of four stayed here in April 2026 and it was a five-star experience. The staff was incredibly helpful and welcoming. Our room was beautiful, impeccably clean, and quite spacious for Tokyo standards. It was great to have a table to eat at and unwind, and nice to have a kitchenette. There were easy-to-operate coin laundry facilities on the main level, which allowed us to travel in carry-ons even for a long trip. The Ginza subway line is only a few blocks from the hotel and the Ueno station (which connect to metro and the JR Yamanote loop) was a 7 - 10 minute walk. Our weather was a bit rainy and cool, and it was wonderful to have such a relaxing base to come home to after a full day of sight-seeing.   A Hidden Gem for Families Visiting Japan

  Our stay at Mimaru Ueno was absolutely incredible and perfect for our family of four, two adults and two 8-year-olds. The room was surprisingly spacious, especially for Tokyo, and gave us plenty of space to relax after long days of exploring.The hotel truly had everything we needed, from plates and kitchen essentials to umbrellas for rainy days. It made traveling with kids so much easier and more comfortable. There were countless convenience stores nearby, and the area was extremely walkable with easy access to everything we wanted to see.What really made our stay special was the staff. Everyone was so kind and helpful, especially Rina and Shu. When my daughter broke her brand new favorite bag, Rina kindly took the time to sew it for her. That level of care meant so much to us and is something we will never forget.This hotel is a true hidden gem. I would 10 out of 10 recommend Mimaru Ueno to any family visiting Japan, especially for a first trip. We would absolutely stay here again.   Awesome staff and Fabulous location

  This is our first time staying at this Mimaru location and we love everything about it. Around the corner is a wonderful little Maruetsu supermarket that sells so much at great prices…fresh seafood, fresh produce and meats and so much more. From the hotel a 10 minute walk you will arrive in Asakusa where you can find Don Quijote, the Rox, and of course, the temple. If you walk 5 minutes from Mimaru, you will hit Kappabashi, Kitchen Town. Of course, not to mention only a 2 minute walk to Inaricho subway station for the Ginza line. To reach Ueno station subway and the JR station, you can take the Ginza line or walk for about 15 minutes. The staff like Rina, Shu, Chio, and all the others are magnificent. They are like staff at the Ritz Carlton Tokyo where they bend forward and backward to help their guests. We mentioned we liked a special type of japanese tea which we did not see at this Mimaru location so front desk, Shu, went out of his way and got us a gift pack full of tea bags and goodies! That is unheard of and so appreciated by us! Before we arrived, we communicated with the property about my health issue and room preference, Rina, went out of her way to assist and ensured our room was just perfect and it was! The staff here at this Mimaru are all SUPERSTARS! Our room 1402 is a Japanese room with tatami sleeping area and the room is very spacious. Beds and futons are both quite firm which we like so if you like soft mattresses, this may be an issue. There is even a large patio door for sunlight to come in and a window in the tatami area. The walk in shower area and tub is huge and the little kitchen comes with plates, bowls, cutlery, cutting board, and a large knife. We found it extremely convenient to have the kitchenette where we can prepare our own breakfasts like eggs, weiners, and coffee. You can ask for a coffee drip machine along with toasters, rice cookers, and much more. We had a rectangular kitchen table with 4 chairs which we found it super helpful where we can put our laptops and served as an eating area as well. There is also a safe in the room which we liked. Cleaning crew is very thorough and they do a fantastic job. Our bed linen was changed every other day and they came to do the garbage, towels, and vacuum every day. Last year we stayed at another Mimaru property in Ueno and the room was not as spacious as this location and the other property had a much higher price point that did not warrant the extra $. We will definitely return to this Mimaru location for the exceptional staff, service, and cleanliness of the room. Thank you Mimaru for helping us enjoy our stay so much.   Stayed here for 4 nights. Second time visiting Japan and this is our 5th Mimaru stay (across Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto). The good 1. WiFi speed was stable and speed was reasonable. 2. Front desk staff were friendly and helpful. 3. Room was clean. 4. 24hr supermarket close by. The not so good1. Quiet neighbourhood, not much going on. This may be a plus to some. 2. The Japanese apartment room layout somehow makes the toilet and bathroom area feel congested compared to the other bunk bed rooms we stayed in the past. 3. The location of the air conditioning unit just above/next to the bed was rather uncomfortable and not to mention noisy. It’s a decent Mimaru hotel but having stayed in other Tokyo based Mimaru Hotels in the past (Tokyo Station East and Hatchobori), I’ll probably choose the other two Mimaru hotels primarily due to the location as well as the room layout. More like a 3.5/5 rating to be honest.
