  Organize Your Belongings Before You Leave! A Hotel Tragedy and Lesson Learned from Losing Valuables

  I would like to share my bitter experience as a cautionary tale for everyone planning a trip.Recently, while staying at the Mitsui Garden Hotel Gotanda, I left behind a shopping bag containing tens of thousands of yen (equivalent to several thousand Hong Kong dollars) in my room. After realizing my mistake, I immediately asked the hotel staff to check and search for it, but their internal investigation concluded that it could not be found.While there is no direct proof, I strongly believe that the cleaning staff accidentally disposed of it as trash while cleaning the room.Although I know I can't get what I lost back, I want to strongly emphasize the following from this experience:Thoroughly check your belongings before leaving: Every day before leaving the hotel to go sightseeing, always organize your personal valuables and souvenirs and put them away in a place where they cannot be seen (I strongly recommend putting them in a safety deposit box or locking them in your suitcase).Never let your guard down: Leaving your belongings carelessly in your room increases the risk of misunderstandings during cleaning or accidental disposal.While everyone tends to feel more relaxed when traveling, please be extremely careful with your belongings to avoid ruining your precious memories.   Wonderful 5-Night Stay - Clean, Comfortable, and Excellent Service

  We had a wonderful 5-night stay at this hotel and truly enjoyed every moment. The entire property was very clean, well-maintained, and had a welcoming atmosphere. We also felt very safe in the surrounding area, which made our stay even more comfortable.Our room was spacious, convenient, and thoughtfully designed. The bathroom stood out in particular-modern, spotless, and we absolutely loved the bidet. It really added to the overall comfort and cleanliness.The service was excellent throughout our stay. A special thank you to the room service attendant who made sure we had bottled water every day-such a small but meaningful detail. We also appreciated that the hotel kindly lent us an umbrella during the rain, which shows how much they care about their guests.Breakfast was another highlight-great quality with plenty of options to start the day right.Overall, we had a very positive experience with no regrets choosing this hotel.   Not Shibuya, not Shinjuku - better, if it suits your needs...

  We spent five nights at the Mitsui Garden Hotel Gotanda, and overall, we left very satisfied.At first, its location, slightly removed from the buzz of Shibuya and Shinjuku, felt like a bit of a compromise. But as the days went on, it turned out to be a real advantage. Exploring the neighborhood’s local restaurants amd bars was a highlight: no tourist traps, just honest, simple dishes/drinks, some good, some truly excellent, all at refreshingly fair prices. In nearby Gotanda, we even had what was probably the best and most authentic teppanyaki of our entire three-week trip through Japan.Getting around was easy thanks to the Yamanote Line, just a 500-meter walk away, connecting us smoothly to all major sights. That said, a bit of travel time is simply part of life anywhere in Tokyo.We found the standard room perfectly adequate in size, but we do travel light, wash clothes along the way, and never bring bulky suitcases. Everything was very clean, and the bed was comfortable. Depending on your room’s position, you might hear passing trains; we did, but surprisingly, it didn’t affect our sleep much. If you’re particularly sensitive, it’s worth requesting a quieter room.A lovely bonus was the terrace by the reception, which offered a pleasant evening view over Gotanda. The reception itself is located on a higher floor, something we noticed in several hotels throughout Japan.The staff were friendly and helpful. English could be a bit patchy here and there, but that’s part of the experience in Japan and never an issue.The hotel also features an onsen, which gets quite popular in the evenings, as well as a small number of washing machines (come with little extra costs ¥300), very convenient, though you may need to plan ahead if you rely on them.Breakfast was solid. The dining area, essentially a repurposed restaurant, does reach capacity quickly, so it’s best to go either very early or a bit later. By 7:00 a.m., it was already full every day. We found the selection more than sufficient, with both Japanese and Western options, and overall in line with the hotel’s standard.All things considered, we would absolutely stay here again, especially because of its location in Gotanda.   Reasonable sized room for JapanCleanGood locqtion near ymamote line and subway.
