  Very convenient just poorly ventilated

  Positives: excellent location near a JR station and multiple subway stations, as well as heaps of food and shopping; excellent service from reception staff and convenient facilities such as a coin laundry onsite.Negatives: rooms have a prefabricated bathroom and ours was poorly ventilated to the point the seemed to be black mould growing towards the end of our 6-night stay and the room constantly smelled musty.

  Amazing value for a quick city trip!

  After reading all the reviews I thought the room would feel quite small, but it didn’t feel cramped at all - the small space was well-designed and perfect for what I needed. Sleep quality was good, everything was clean, the location is super convenient, I don’t know what else you could ask for.

  The reason choosing the accommodation is the location. I don’t need to move very far with my suitcase from the station.The size of the room is as normal as other similar room type in Japan. The accommodation provides a rack for suitcase. The room is clean. I used the laundry service. Although I need to wait as it was in peak hour, I can check the status of the washing machine via the TV in my room! The clothes can be dried at the same time when washing. It is convenient to me. Also, I visited Japan for concert this time. I asked if the accommodation can pick up the online purchase of the merchandise. The accommodation helped and handed me the delivery when I had my check-in. Therefore, I could catch my merchandise to the concert on time!   When small is really small

  I had stayed in several hotels in Japan with small room but this one takes the cake. It is definitely very uncomfortable for 2 persons. Even for a single occupant, it is still uncomfortably small. The location is convenient for trains and subway but it is in the red light district where there are hundreds of ‘Girly Theme Bars’ in the vicinity. Every evening, the are many young girls who will hold signs and ask passerby to patronize their bars. So it may not be suitable for families. I am sure you don’t even want your kids to look at those signages in the vicinity. There is a ‘girly bar’ just next to the hotel. There are endless dining options and the Ueno shopping street is just a very short walk. Did not try the breakfast. Bed was comfortable. There are also free amenities on the second floor at the reception area. This place is fine for me during to its convenience.

  Try the Sotetsu chain in Japan!

  We were absolute newbies to Japan, Tokyo, and the Sotetsu Hotel chain, but we found the booking, finding the hotel, and our stay a breeze. Checking in to the hotel was done at a computer kiosk. There were very friendly staff on hand to assist.We booked a standard double-bed room. It was small, but clean and all we needed for a 3- night stay. The amenity selection in the lobby provided us with many useful items, including instant tea and coffee pkgs., bath salts, and more. The bed was comfortable and the boxed breakfast was simple, but delicious. With a Sotetsu chain membership, you can earn points for a free night and even get some cash back when you check out. You even get an email for your birthday with an offer for a % off your next booking.The walk from the Keisei Ueno train station was an easy 5 minute walk. The Keisei Ueno station and the JR Ueno station were very close together, so getting around Tokyo was convenient. Ueno Koen (park) has museums, a zoo, a lotus pond, and more. It is right by the Keisei station. There are at least two major combini (convenience stores) between the hotel and Ueno station. Ameyayokocho (Ameya Alley) is a vibrant shopping street in Ueno with restaurants, street food, pharmacies, with some clothing and souvenirs shops, too. We tried some spicy chicken in a cup. It was delicious! Note that cash is key in these types of shopping areas in Japan.
