    Won't be staying again

    rating30 Dec 2025

Arrived around 8pm to check into the Sotetsu Fresa Inn. So far I had stayed in one other SFI and had a very pleasant experience and thought this would be the same. Nope. The first room I was put in was not cleaned after the previous guest. There was hair everywhere, the surfaces were grimy, there was a mysterious stain on the toilet. Unacceptable. I immediately informed the hotel front desk and it took a bit to convey what the issue was to them when I was requesting a new room. One of the people at the front desk then came to the room to check it out and agreed the room wasn't clean. He told me to pack up my stuff and come down for a new room assignment. I did that and the new room was clean and much better than the other one. I still felt skeeved out the rest of my one night stay (thank God it was only one night). I also did laundry at this location. Not so good either. The dryer doesn't actually dry your clothes so I had to find places to awkwardly hang dry my clothes the rest of the way while I was sleeping. Under the washers also seemed to be a bit of mold (or a substance that very much looked like it) and there were a few bugs crawling around it. Gross. Will definitely not be back.

Great value, amazing stay in Ginza

    rating18 Mar 2025

I booked the Fresa Inn Ginza Nanachome based on a recommendation from a colleague and have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone looking for a reasonably priced hotel in one of the more upmarket districts of Tokyo. It is a very convenient area to be based in. Apparently it is a Japanese business hotel, but the guests when we were there spanned the globe. Check in can be at the desk or by automated machine. The staff were very helpful, nothing was too much trouble and they spoke good English. The rooms themselves are Tokyo size, I had a single room but the bed was probably a double size. If you need a lot of space, this may not be the hotel for you, but it was perfect for my needs and I could not find fault. Everything was very clean and there was a daily make-up of the room if you wanted it. Downstairs they have an amenities station where you can get face masks, lotions, toiletries etc. Pyjamas are as you leave the lifts on each floor and there are slippers provided in the rooms. On level 2 there is a coin laundry, a microwave if you need to heat up food, a cafe. At street level are several convenience stores a short walk away. Daiso and Don Quijote are not far if you need anything, the high-end shopping is 1-2 minutes away but you can still find GU and Uniqlo too. There are many small restaurants nearby. Top tip - the lift for the Ginza train station is tucked behind Gucci.

Great hotel in the area to check out

    rating20 Feb 2025

Pretty good location for the hotel. Everything is within a 10 - 25 minute walk. Ginza from shopping district it is pretty close so you don’t have to walk far. Down the street there is a Don Quijote. Downstairs right next to the hotel is a Family Mart which was very convenient to have. I was able to buy late night snacks I wanted. If you’re looking to stay and shop in Ginza for a couple of days I think you could stay here. The rooms are small but most of them are in Japan. If you don’t mind about the small restroom as well. This could be your spot to stay.

    Excellent location, old/smelly bathroom

    rating15 Jan 2025

I stayed for two nights in January 2025 in a connecting room (which is one double room and one twin room - with one extra bed) for a family of 4. The room is not too small compare to excellent location in Ginza. The service is great, the staff couldn't be better - as expect for Japanese standard. The bathroom looks a bit old/outdated, but that's not the problem - it's the smell from the toilet!!! When I first got into the bathroom, it smelled like a dirty public bathroom (not in Japan, even public bathroom in Japan doesn't smell). I notice a urine stain on the toilet, so I cleaned it up with hope that the smell would go away. I wiped the whole bathroom floor (it's small) with Lysol too. I also asked the hotel to clean the bathroom for us. I came back hours after that, and the smell is still there. I realized that it's not a urine on the surface, it's the smell from a toilet. Sadly it was there the whole period. Luckily, we have two bathroom so I used the other one. This is not something I ever found in Japan hotel before, I've been there plenty of time and this is the first time this happened. The hotel location is really nice, I hope they can fix this.

    Decent but needs improvement.

    rating30 Dec 2024

Our stay was okay. Though the room is small, the beds are larger than the previous hotel we stayed at in 2022. Location is central, walking distance to Main Street of Ginza. Ginza Six and Don Quixote average around 5 minutes on foot. Muji, Uniqlo and Apple Store around 8 minutes. The hotel has next-door access to convenience store Family Mart where you can get packed meals and do foreign exchange withdrawals via machine. Train stations are also walkable. The breakfast buffet not extensive but decent. Toiletries are provided at the reception area where you can just pluck howeveer much you need during your stay. An ice machine is also available with plastic cups there. Pajamas are provided on racks right by the elevator on every floor and they’re quite comfortable. The staff are helpful inspite of the language barrier. The downside: 1. They don’t provide bottled drinking water. 2. No coffee machine where you can get free caffeine fix like a lot of the hotels in Ginza. 3. The people at the reception don’t speak good English. They rely on a gadget on hand that translates their responses to your queries. 4. The staff at the restaurant don’t speak good English. Took a while before I was able to request that my soggy bacon strips be cooked crispy, which they later said won’t be allowed next time. “Today only, next time no more.” is what the lady managing the buffet told me.
