Location

The hotel lies in the Old Town, 100 m from the banks of the Daugava. It is a convenient 10-minute walk away from Riga train station and 20 min from the ferry port. The airport is just 10 km away.

Facility

11 junior suites, a suite, 11 single rooms and 77 double rooms are located on 6 storeys and can be reached by lift. The reception desk is open round the clock. A baggage storage service, safe, currency exchange service and cash machine are available. Wireless internet access in public areas allows guests to stay connected. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. A number of shops, including a souvenir shop, are great for shopping or just browsing. Additional facilities include a newspaper stand. Guests arriving by car can park their vehicles in the garage or in the car park. Other services include a car hire service, a transfer service, room service, an alarm call service, a laundry service and a hotel shuttle bus. A business centre with fax machine and projector is available.

Rooms

    Adequate for a short city stay, good location.

    Had four nights here on a city break. Location is excellent, at south edge of the Old Town and close to the Central Market, so everything easily accessible. Bus 22 from the airport stops close by.Building is an old mansion converted to hotel, with a lot of old features. We booked a standard double and were given 604, which was one of several built into the attic space of the building. Room had good floor space but use was restricted by sloping ceiling and with no side windows, only skylights which could be opened. We did ask if we could move to one with windows but were told hotel was fully booked. Furnishings were basic and a bit worn but adequate, with tv, a/c, kettle, payable minibar fridge, safe. Could do with a good refresh. Bathroom was fresh but sloping ceiling meant no shower space so it had a large corner bath with a shower head on a long hose - bit odd but it worked. The presence of earplugs beside the bed did not bode well for noise issues but we had no problems. The room did the job for a short stay where you were spending little time in it.Breakfast buffet had a decent hot and cold selection but did get very busy at times and they struggled a bit with replenishment.It has a bar and apparently a sauna but we used neither. Staff were pleasant and helpful.As I said, adequate and convenient for a short stay but try to avoid 6th floor rooms.

    The hotel has some positives as well as negatives.Positives - close to train station- close to tourist areas easy walking distance - quiet street- really helpful staff - rooms clean nicely- breakfast lots of options for guests- safes in room Negatives- rooms a little tight to walk around bed- bathroom can be tiny. Some rooms have shower that are circular in the corner, if you are a bigger person you will not fit comfortably. Tight fit especially to bend and wash your feet. Ask for another room with bath/shower on booking.     Good hotel in great location.

    We only stayed here for one night after landing in Riga on our way to Lithuania. The hotel is perfectly located in the old town, short walking distance to most places of interest. When we arrived, we were greeted by a lovely lady on reception who checked us in swiftly and explained about breakfast, room location etc... I had booked a design room on the top floor as it looked lovely from the photos. The room was really lovely, clean with comfortable bed. We are both well over 6ft tall and the ceilings are very low, slopes down above your head when in bed. The receptionist called the room as soon as we got to it and offered to show us an alternative room which had higher ceilings. We had a look but opted to stay in our original room. I wish I had listened as I lost count of how many times I banged my head on the wooden beams or the large wooden wheel, which hands very low in the room as you enter. This is not a criticism as she kindly offered to change our room. The bathroom was clean and compact. But the shower was a good foot too low and my head was way above the top of the cubicle. I had to get my husband to reach over and hold the shower head over me while I showered properly. Breakfast was good, not a huge selection and very busy, even first thing. Still found plenty to eat, so didn't go hungry. Some items just wasn't to my taste, not the hotels fault. I would definitely stay here again, just choose a room with higher ceilings next time.     We stayed for three nights at Rixwell Riga. We enjoyed for good night sleeps in a warm and clean room, very good breakfasts with lot of choises and such a kind staff with smiles. Only minus is a very small shower cupicle, but we manage great also with that. The location is just perfect. Short way to walk different old town destinations and airport bus (22) stop is almost opposite of the hotel for 2min walk. We will definately choose this again; so see you hopefully soon.
