Lovely Riad in a great location.

    rating09 Sept 2023

This is a lovely, quiet Riad. It's in a great location, close to the ocean and the souk. There are also lots of nice cafes, restaurants, and bars all within walking distance. I would definitely recommend it, and I will be returning, inshallah. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

    A really lovely riad

    rating20 Dec 2022

What a great find. It's a lovely riad near to one of the main gates, so easy to find when you arrive. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. Nothing was ever a problem. They also recommended a great Hammam (Zen Spa). The rooms were really lovely and the view from the roof was fantastic. Sad to leave.

    CALM AND CONVIVIAL PLACE

    rating23 Aug 2020

We stayed in Riad Dar Assalama for three days during the coronavirus crisis. Our room was well decorated, comfortable and clean. For the three days, we had different delicious breakfasts (Except the Industry's process Orange juice!!) on the lovely terasse that started with a nice talk with Philipe and his family, who were helpfull, kind and cheerful. The Riad is well located near to the Main Car Park of Essaouira and inside of the Medina which offers an easy access to the beach and to the Medina. The Riad's view on the ocean is wonderfull. However the construction work on the alleys made our checking and chekout with ours suits distressing and the lack of lighting during night made our acess to the Riad bothersome. Any how, we wil definitey stay there next time when things go back to normal and when a Fresh squeezed Orange Juice is Available :) .

    Wonderful stay

    rating26 Jul 2020

The riad is decorated beautifully and very clean. Our room was great. Large, with an en suite. The bed was very comfortable, and everything was clean. We had breakfast on the terasse, which was lovely. Every day we had something different, it was all delicious. The owners are very friendly and helpful. We parked our car in the main car park outside the medina, the riad was easy to find from there. We enjoyed strolling around the medina and it was also easy to get to the promenade and the beach from the riad. We'll definitely stay there again the next time we are in Essaouira.

    Awkward experience during Coronavirus crisis

    rating17 Mar 2020

Dar Assalama was our most expensive accomodation (57€/night for two) of our 3-week trip in Morocco, yet the one we liked less. We didn't feel good during our two nights there. You can find much better for this price.+ Rachida and the other Moroccan guy who works with her are very kind.+ The terrace and its view on the Medina and the ocean are amazing (other riads offer the same though)- The most disturbing is the owner's attitude when we told him we didn't know if we could go back to France because Moroccan authorities had suspended flights between France and Morocco because of the Coronavirus outbreak. We were staying in the riad from Friday to Sunday, then going to Marrakech and flying back to France on Monday. When we got back to the riad on Saturday late afternoon after a walk int the city, the owner told us that he had the information that all flights were stopped and that only one flight was scheduled to leave from...Essaouira...a week later. Then he asked me details of my flight to check on FlightStats whether it was still scheduled, and he told me that there was nothing so that my flight must have been cancelled. After I went back to my room to check on my phone the info, and found nothing about this supposed Essaouira flight, but did find that some flights were maintained from big cities such as Marrakech. Also I checked myself on FlightStats and found my flight. Unfortunately, it looks like the owner tried to abuse us in this very stressful situation by trying to make us stay one more week in his riad.- Breakfast was the one we liked less of all our trip. On the first day we were served Moroccan pancakes made the day before (all other places we stayed at served pancakes either made in the morning or on order) and mine wasn't whole, it looked like someone had cut a piece of it. No amlou or argan oil served even though it's the region where it's produced; all other accommodations we stayed at (again, all cheaper) offered those, or told us they'd go buy some if we requested it; this is the kind of level of service you expect from a riad. (also I'd ask them before coming if they served amlou at breakfast and they told me that they did, which was a lie)- Rooms are dark, and the fact that the furniture is black and lights are white (and not a warm yellow) doesn't help.
