    A few tips

    rating18 May 2025

I can't really add to the fantastic reviews for this place, so here's a few tips :-1. The rooms were a bit warm, and you have no control over this, so suggest you take a clip on desk/mini fan. Also, the shutters in there do not block out much light, so an eye mask would help.2. You get a bathrobe and towels, but no footwear, so sliders or flip flops are needed. Also, shampoo and shower gel are provided, but you need a sponge or flannel.3. There is a self-service bar where you can purchase beers, wines, etc, but this closes at 11pm. There are no signs telling you this.4. Can be noisy, so consider ear plugs.Enjoy your stay

    Surprised by the experience

    rating08 Oct 2024

Don’t normally stay in hostels so was a bit uneasy about staying in pods, but was pleasantly surprised.POD was a good size with all that you needed, shared facilities like bathroom and showers well maintained and clean.Nice lounge area to hang out and lockers available. Very good location for exploring city with lots of restaurants and cafes to eat at. Quirky modern capsule hostel on lively street in Rotterdam

    rating23 Sept 2024

Having stayed in a Japanese capsule hotel, I was curious to try what a Dutch equivalent. CityHub is more of a hostel which provides individual "hubs" or sleeping pods (somewhere between a Japanese capsule and a Yotel basic cabin room) rather than a hotel. Rooms/hubs are not en suite, though there was a unisex toilet (2 cubicles) very near my room, and clean (single sex) showers on the next floor. No TVs in rooms. I slept surprisingly well - the rooms/hubs don't have windows on the outside world, just onto the corridors, with blinds that close to mean it's properly dark overnight, and I wasn't disturbed by noise from other residents or outside the building at all. (CityHub is on a lively street, full of bars, restaurants, a coffeeshop so I was pleasantly surprised).Quirky features include the ability to pick the room lighting colours, via the check in screens in reception and the use of a rfid wristband to pay for food & drinks from the vending machines, to get into your room and the building, and to operate lockers. There are lots of usefully large lockers in the ground floor "Hangout"lounge area, and you can use them to store bags even after checking out - just return the wristband when you collect luggage later in the day. There was a little kitchenette downstairs if you wanted to self cater (or just make a cup of herbal tea in my case). CityHub were changing their breakfast procedures and this was a bit chaotic. When I did the online check in before arriving I was given the option to pre-pay for breakfast at 2 different places, and I selected one. When I arrived, I was told that that selected cafe didn't open until 10 am (no use when I had already booked a waterbus for 10 am) but another place opened earlier. I was also told that whereas previously, the cafes with which they had a breakfast arrangement no longer allowed you to just use the wristband to pay, and instead the pre-payment via CityHub just gave a discount off items on the menu. I was able to obtain a refund for the breakfast pre-payment which came through swiftly. I got the impression the website for checking in hadn't been updated to reflect the changes to breakfast arrangements on the ground. If the prices were more like Tokyo capsule hotel prices, that would be fantastic. As it was, I could probably have got a conventional hotel room for not much more than I paid.
