if you know what a Hotel is, do not book here.

    rating28 Apr 2026

Lets start with what seems to be a quirky Kiwi definition of 'Hotel'. It seems like any accommodation that has a bed and a bar is considered a Hotel in NZ. This is not so in Australia (or anywhere else in the world that I'm aware of) so be sure you are clear what sort of accommodation you are booking.LyLo Queenstown is NOT a hotel, it is a backpackers Hostel. Hotel bedrooms have a desk and a chair, cupboards for clothes, an iron and ironing board, a drinks fridge, etc. The 'private' rooms at LyLo do not. Not even a toilet brush! No drinking glass to use to brush your teeth or take meds.We were greeted by a single thin flimsy doonah in a fairly brisk climate and had to request more bedding. They even request you do their work for them and strip the bedding, which is to be placed in a very oddly placed hamper at the lift door. Not a very chic look. The walls between units are thin and uninsulated, so conversations can be heard in the next room. I doubt the fire rating between units is compliant, notwithstanding the heavy fire rated entry door. They have a rule which they 'claim' to be a restriction on their liquor licence, that one can only drink the alcohol they sell you. I think it is BS, I think it is a rip off for the 20 somethings that don't know better. There is no parking, so if you plan to have a vehicle, factor in off street parking rates.'Cheap' and 'maximum profit' are the words that I associate with LyLoThe one saving grace of this establishment is it's location. Close to the centre of the restaurants and bars and meeting places for bus pickups. It is nearly ideal. If you are over 25 and have some sense of what a real 'Hotel' is, do not book the LyLo. Not recommended.

Lylo really got your back, promise!

Absolutely love my stay! Bed pods were cosy, the kitchen/bathrooms were clean and top notch. I had a few things happen during my stay, but the lovely Millea (sorry if that’s not spelt right) she was a legend. Thank you so much girly for your help during my stay, your customer service was so real and helpful, you’re doing great sweetie!! Hannah Mole, General Manager at Lylo Queenstown, responded to this review We’re buzzing to hear you loved your stay, cosy pods, sparkling kitchen and bathrooms, that’s exactly the vibe we’re going for! Massive shout‑out to Melia, she really is a legend and we’ll make sure she sees your kind words. We’ve always got your back at Lylo, and it’s awesome to know you felt looked after. Can’t wait to welcome you back for more good times soon!

Close too town but that’s about it

    rating26 Sept 2025

Room was very small, the double bed was pushed up again the wall, leaving no space for suitcases. The bedding appeared cleanish, but there were random hairs in the bedding. Only got two pillows which were very thin and hard. The bathroom was extremely small, no place to put yearn your toothbrush on the basin. The shower also didn’t drain, despite being recently renovated (however appeared clean). The walls were so thin, we could also hear others. The corridors became very loud very early, with other guests opening and closing doors loudly. No space to park your car if you decide to stay, however the proximity to town is great. If you want a hotel room on a budget, for a couple of nights, this is ok. Hannah Mole, General Manager at Lylo Queenstown, responded to this review Thanks for sharing your thoughts. We’re stoked you enjoyed being close to town, but we’re sorry the rest of your stay wasn’t as smooth as it should’ve been. We’ll take a closer look at the room setup, bedding, and bathroom drainage you mentioned, and we’ll also keep working on ways to reduce noise so guests can rest easier.Your feedback really helps us improve, and we hope we get the chance to give you a better experience next time.

Great Vibe, Not so good pod sanitation

    rating10 Aug 2025

Bed wasn’t washed, there was dirt, hair and someone’s sunglasses left in my pod. The communal areas are great and the vibe is good. However only let down was the sanitation of the pod. Hannah Mole, General Manager at Lylo Queenstown, responded to this review Hi there,We’re glad you enjoyed the vibe and communal areas, though we’re sorry to hear about your pod experience. It sounds like there may have been some confusion in the shared room and another guest used your pod before you arrived. Our team wouldn’t leave belongings behind, and we hope you came to reception so we could have sorted this on the spot.Safe travels,The LyLo Queenstown Team

Such a good experience. Very easy to upgrade my room and the condition was amazing. Nice to get the option of my own space. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Location is amazing, easy to catch bus or walk around town.
