The Lodge gets better and better!

    rating29 Mar 2026

We stayed at the "Lodge" at the beginning of March & this was our fifth visit, the first & second back in 2022 & 2023 when it was under the Radisson Blu banner.Skistar then took it over & invested heavily, the many improvements the management have made to this hotel make it a very special place to stay.In the past three years there have been new restaurants (an Italian called "Luca" & "Steak house T Fagersen) which both have wonderful food and a nice ambiance, service is excellent too.New "no slip" flooring which is essential when your walking around in ski boots, a new Spa shop & the Ski shop moved and extended.Rooms are comfortable and if you choose ones with a mountain view have breath-taking scenery. The spa (you have to pay for but do get a large discount if you are a hotel resident) is very nice with an inside / outside pool, two outside & one inside hot tub Jacuzzi's, Saunas, steam rooms and even a bar, treatments are also available.Staben is the hotels afterski bar and also offer food, we love its ambiance & always joined in when they had live music on at the weekends, the staff were always very helpful & friendly, the conservatory area now has new furniture too. The ski lockers are now linked to your room number and you are only twenty meters from the pistes. We go for the skiing and love the many green runs that weave through the trees, they are very pretty, if you fancy something a little steeper head up the chairlift for the three red runs & another green that runs back to the hotel. The lift system on this side of the mountain is due an upgrade as it only has one chairlift, the other ten lifts are a mix of T bars or drag lifts, I do hope Skistar Ski resort send some investment to this side of the mountain as many people I spoke with whist skiing spent most of their time on the Tourist centre side because of the lifts. We always have a brilliant time in Trysil and will be back for visit number 6 next March, we can't wait! Birgit Gustu, Gjestetjenester/resepsjon at Skistar Lodge Trysil, responded to this review Dear Mark,Thank you so much for your wonderful and thoughtful feedback! To welcome you back for a fifth visit—and to hear that you are already planning your sixth—makes us incredibly proud. Guests like you, who return year after year, are at the very heart of what we do, and it’s especially rewarding to know that you have experienced the hotels journey and development over time.I’m delighted to hear that you’ve enjoyed the improvements we’ve made in recent years. From Luca and Steakhouse T. Fageråsen to the upgraded facilities, ski shop, and spa areas, a great deal of care and passion has gone into creating a warm, comfortable, and memorable experience—and it’s fantastic to know that this has been felt during your stays. Your kind words about the atmosphere, food, and especially our team mean a great deal, and I will be sure to share your feedback with everyone. Most of all, we are so happy to hear that Trysil continues to be a place you enjoy returning to. We are already looking forward to welcoming you back next March and will do our very best to make your sixth visit just as memorable—if not even better.Best RegardsBirgit General ManagerSkistar Lodge Trysil

Great stay—until the hotel was taken over by a conference!

    rating21 Mar 2026

We had a great stay initially—the ski resort is excellent and the hotel was comfortable, clean, and well located. However, this completely changed towards the end of our stay when the hotel hosted a very large conference group without any prior warning to guests. The conference effectively took over the hotel facilities. On Friday morning, breakfast was so overcrowded it was extremely difficult to access, which is unacceptable when it is part of the stay we paid for. On Saturday night, there was a party in the hotel with loud, thumping bass that could be felt vibrating through the floor until around 1am, making it very difficult to sleep. At no point were we informed this would be happening, and the lack of communication and consideration for other guests was extremely disappointing. It’s a shame, as the hotel was very good otherwise, but the way this was handled significantly impacted our experience. Birgit Gustu, Gjestetjenester/resepsjon at Skistar Lodge Trysil, responded to this review Dear Lisa,Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us.I’m very pleased to hear that you had a great stay initially and that you enjoyed both the resort and the comfort, cleanliness, and location of the hotel. That makes it all the more important to me to address the latter part of your experience.I am truly sorry that you felt the conference group took over the hotel facilities during your stay. This is certainly not the impression we want to leave with our guests, and I can understand how this would affect your overall experience.I also sincerely apologize for the challenges you encountered with breakfast and for the noise disturbance on Saturday night. A good night’s sleep and a comfortable start to the day are essential parts of any stay, and I regret that we did not meet expectations in this regard.Your feedback is very important to us, and we will continue to focus on how we manage larger groups within the hotel to ensure a balanced and enjoyable experience for all our guests. It is truly a shame that this impacted what was otherwise a positive stay, and I sincerely hope we will have the opportunity to welcome you back and provide you with the experience you had expected from start to finish.Warm regardsBirgit General ManagerSkistar Lodge Trysil

We have just spent the week at this hotel and resort. A bit of a mix bag review. Was unsure whether to gice 3 or 4* Firstly check in was ok we like a physical card rather than a phone app. Room size ok but not much space for the suitcases to go! Clean towels and service every day👍 we paid extra for half board. Buffet breakfast and dinner. Now this is good BUT food needs to be hotter, sitting under a lamp with no heat is no good. Food was cold which was a shame as there was a good range/choices. Now the swimming pool is a bit of a problem... we were on the understanding that the pool was included in the stay and that if you wanted to use spa facilities then you'd pay extra. This is not the case. Also, get booked quickly so we only managed to go once! Can I also suggest that you provide a swimming costume spinner to help fey them, going back to the room with a wet costume is crazy and took days to dry! We like the two vouchers to eat at a different part of the hotel. But thought the place lacked entertainment could have been so much better. Ski bus service isnt great either, so much better in France/Italy etc and the town itself is limited to. So as I said mix bag good and could do a lot better. Birgit Gustu, Gjestetjenester/resepsjon at Skistar Lodge Trysil, responded to this review Dear waserhcc,Thank you very much for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. We truly appreciate hearing both the positive aspects and the areas where you feel we could improve.I’m glad to hear that you enjoyed the daily housekeeping service, the buffet variety, and the meal vouchers at our other restaurant. It’s also great to know that you found the room comfortable and the check-in process smooth. At the same time, I am very sorry that some parts of your stay did not meet expectations. We take comments about food temperature, pool access, and drying facilities seriously, and your suggestions about a swimming costume spinner are very helpful, we will look into this! Your feedback will be shared with our teams to help us continue improving, and we hope that despite some challenges, you were able to enjoy your time on the slopes and in Trysil.Thank you again for your honest review, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future for an even better stay.Warm regardsBirgit General ManagerSkistar Lodge Trysil
