  I have a lot to say about this hotel

  First off, it is not close to town & the taxi drivers will not know where to find it. It’s roughly a 20 min walk from Centro and it’s steep which wouldn’t normally be a problem, but with the added altitude it wears you down. The staff are friendly and happy to help, but speak bare minimum English making it difficult to coordinate day trips etc. The hotel room had no toilet paper on arrival and the wifi does not work unless you are in the kitchen or the reception area. Breakfast was average, just be aware it is strictly one egg per person and there was never any drinking water available. Not to mention we ordered an in-house pizza one night and we found a large rusty nail amongst the pizza. When we told reception, they took a photo of the nail and that was the last we heard about it. No apologies or waiving the price of the pizza. If you’re considering staying here, I would advise only one night or just choose an alternative accomodation that is in a more convenient location.

  It is a 10 to 15 minute walk from Hotel Balconcillo to the Plaza de Armas, which is perfect. When we stayed in Cusco in June, there were parades and big crowds (and noise) in the plaza every day. Our hotel was far enough that it was very quiet, but close enough that we could easily walk back and forth. Taxis are also easy to find and inexpensive. Tour companies will come to the hotel for morning pick-up.The rooms have beautiful views of the city. Some rooms have a fridge and microwave, while others do not.Staff are very helpful and assisted us with things like ordering food in, calling taxis, and sending laundry out.We would definitely recommend Hotel Balconcillo to anyone visiting Cusco!

  Excellent Staff, Lovely Hotel

  This hotel was like an Oasis in a desert to us on our travels. We booked in for 3 nights prior to the Inca Trail, purely because it seemed so reasonably priced. We were a little concerned it was to far out of town, but soon discovered a quick walk down the hill was all it took to reach the centre and a cheap 7 sol taxi back up.We booked a double room, which had plenty of space, a small kitchenette which in all fairness didn’t really have any facilities but there was a small kitchen upstairs where they served breakfast.The staff were fantastic! On arrival we were shown to our room and when asking about local places to eat the manager asked if we wanted to order a take away so we could relax in the room. He had 2 menu’s ready and he ordered for us as our Spanish is mediocre at best.We wanted to relax before the Inca Trail so we made full use of the room. Huge comfy bed, TV with a few English language channels, warm showers and more space than we knew what to do with. Plus a great room overlooking Cusco.Breakfast was included, always fresh fruit and coffee with your choice of eggs cooked to order.We loved the place so much we booked in for 3 more nights when we got back from the Inca Trail.The room, the building, the staff and the breakfast here are all top notch and well worth the reasonable price this hotel charges.When leaving we had a late night bus. We sat on the lounge sofa’s downstairs reading when the manager asked if we wanted to watch Netflix. He set it up on the big screen and we chilled on reception till our bus. They then ordered us a taxi. Literally, these guys couldn’t do enough for us. Highly recommend!

  What a great service and staff.. breakfast with own eggs the way you want it. The view from the patio is just a wonder it's self. They looked after my hire car while I was in Machu pichu. Made sure our stay was perfect. Thanks guys

  Great night's sleep and amazing service

  We stayed here one night and wish we had stayed longer! The rooms were huge, with amazing views and a kitchenette. The bed was so comfortable, and with the no noise we slept very well.The staff put the hotel over the top. We left our bags at the hotel before checking in while we did a one-day trip to Machu Picchu, and the staff carried out (many) bags to our rooms prior to our arrival. They also helped us order in dinner that night and argued with the delivery guy on our behalf when dinner arrived late. Breakfast the next morning was great, and they arranged a tax for us.Although the location wasn't most convenient for seeing the city, we loved the hotel and would happily stay here again. Great bargain!
