    Ok Hostal

    rating20 Nov 2018

The Hostal was ok. We spent an overall of 4 nights in 2 different dates as we did the Inca trail in between (they stored our luggage during our side trip). The room was of nice size, the beds were comfy enough. The downsides were that the room was facing the street thus **a lot** of noise 24/7. The place overall seemed a bit old but the housekeeping was fine. The staff was friendly and tentative, no complaints in there.Breakfast is very simple (eggs, bread, some yogurt, some juices and coffee). Now to the issues: on our first night we had an issue where no hot water was coming out of our shower, we told the people on the lobby and the only available solution at the time was to let us in to another available room to shower there, the hot water was "fixed" by next day (we still had issues all through our stay as the hot water would disappear after 3 minutes, in which you would have to shut the water down then open it again and wait like 1 minute for hot water to come out.So overall I would not really recommend this hotel if you really want a good night sleep and nice shower, I do recommend it if you are ok with these issues or backpacking.

    Friendly staff and cozy rooms

    rating10 Jan 2018

This property is very well located, very close to Plaza de Armas, restaurants, mini markets and Museo del Pisco. The staff is always the same, 4 extremely friendly and welcoming people that are in charge of reception, breakfast and cleaning the rooms. Its a small hotel, but has just what you need, comfy beds and breakfast everyday. I went with a friend we stayed 6 nights, we had tours everyday so we were not at the property for long periods. If you need to get up extremely early for any of the tours you can tell to any of the guys of the staff and they will knock on your door and call you to make sure you don't lose your tour. We went during "winter-rain" season so it was cold but the beds were perfect with layers of blankets so you didn't get cold during the night. the only "bad thing" i could say is that they have wooden floors and if you are on the second floor you can hear footsteps of the room above you, but honestly that didn't bother us that much cause we were out most of the day and during the night everything was really quiet. :) We had a really nice time at this property, the staff is great, they are extremely patient with tourist demands and are always willing to help.

    Friendly, inexpensive & simple

    rating20 Jul 2017

The staff makes this simple, no frills & very reasonably priced hotel a good choice. The website is definitely outdated & the restaurant (next door) is no longer part of this small, family run hotel - but it's a convenient option. We stayed four nights and were able to leave our bags after check-out on our last day and picked them up before our night bus. The rooms are quite small & the ventilation is minimal, making the bathroom dampness linger. However, the bathroom fixtures are very new & recently updated and the water was always piping HOT and great pressure. No safe in the room but very trusted staff, and for those of us accustomed to travel locks on bags are the best safe anyway. Things quiet down at night, but early mornings the noise of footsteps up and down the stairs (if you're in a corner room) can be disruptive. There were also firecrackers/fireworks? set off nearby each morning around 8:00 a.m. A local alarm clock? Ha ha! Our earplugs came in handy and most mornings we were up & ready to go by 8:00 anyway. No heat in the rooms. Most Peruvians don't have heat in their homes, they put on an extra sweater drink some hot tea and call it good. Killa House will provide a space-heater if you need it though ($3.00 surcharge) and there are plenty of extra blankets. The staff are all so very helpful and go out of their way to help guests with any & all requests. Cusqueños have to be mighty patient with the constant deluge of tourists & varying demands/standards each comes with depending on country/culture/experience/wallet. Killa House staff do a superb job.Carlos helped us set up tours and when he didn't have the price point we needed for our budget, he kindly referred us to another provider who delivered. The location to restaurants, the Plaza de Armas, markets & local sites was very convenient. Breakfast was simple - bread, butter, jam and your choice of eggs, coffee/tea and fresh juice. The breakfast nook is a bit cramped, but the staff do their best to keep the flow and their guests content. Updates to the website to reflect more current look & offerings would help give travelers a more realistic expectation. ¡Muchísimas gracias a todos por acogernos durante nuestra visita! Todos allá en el Killa House son gente de maravilla y los apreciamos mucho. Deseándoles éxito a cada uno en todos sus planes por el futuro.

    Friendly staff and good location

    rating15 Apr 2016

Well located about 5-10 mins from Plaza de Armas. Friendly staff, Karina welcomed us with fresh coca tea and always happy to give us all tips and information. She even helped us bargaining a taxi! Rooms arent heated but plenty of layers of duvets, we didn't use all of them and stayed warm all night. Make sure you book a superior room for more comfort. Basic hotel, continental breakfast.
