    It pains me to say it… but I expected much better. I will start by saying, I am not a golfer… so can’t really comment on the golf facilities, but my friends that are say the course is very good but that the driving range was out of action during our stay and that this is the second year running that it has been unavailable which for a golf resort is poor.So, the resort for a non-golfer - the apartments are starting to get a little tired and are in need of a refresh. The sun beds both on the balcony and near the outdoor pools need replacing as many are broken. The food in the clubhouse is adequate and not too expensive. The indoor pool is not a relaxing place to be… with children’s swimming lessons and loud music accompanying aqua aerobics making relaxation difficult. Also restrictions such as the requirement to book sessions in advance, the compulsory wearing of swimming caps, which they provide but only for a fee and the fact that the reception staff are pretty unfriendly all takes the shine away from the whole experience. The location is great with a fabulous walk down to Praia da Luz. Finally there is a significant amount of building work across many parts of the resort including what looks like a huge hotel complex next door to the club house and spa and as such, noise and dust is inevitably going to affect your stay.

    I paid €21 expecting a relaxing sauna experience. I arrived at 8 a.m. when the sauna opened, and while the front desk staff were initially friendly, the sauna itself was only 60°C and the steam room was cold. I didn’t have time to wait for them to warm up, which made it a challenge to have a proper sauna my visit.When I politely requested a refund, the staff member’s attitude changed noticeably, and she seemed annoyed. Despite my attempts to be friendly, I left feeling unwelcome.

    The hotel falls short in the way it communicates and manages its services. Although we paid extra for the spa, it is not clearly stated that its use is subject to specific conditions, such as mandatory advance booking. In addition, there was excessive control, repeated checks of our names, and a rude attitude with constant frowns, especially because we arrived slightly late — which felt even more unreasonable considering it was low season and the space was almost empty.The only friendly staff members were those at the spa reception on December 26th at 12:00 pm. In contrast, the man at the hotel reception was extremely rude and even threatened us with a fine for not returning the key immediately, despite the house already being vacated. No one informed us of the correct procedure, and we reasonably assumed the key should be returned at the spa.Additionally, the equipment is outdated, and the washing machine nearly burned my clothes. Overall, a very unpleasant experience — definitely not a place we would return to.

    Group 8 visiting from UKCourse is lovely design with many excellent holesHowever the greens were shocking, spongy, poorly kept, bare patches, do not run true and very wobblySpeaking to member, the greens have been poor for some monthsThe booking through Golf Holidays Direct has been excellent, transport arrived on time and great service

    8 of us have just returned from a weekends golf staying in the Bela Colina Village at Boavista Golf & Spa Resort.Accommodation was great, apartments spacious and very clean, had everything we needed.Golf course was ok, struggling with damage from local wild boars, but nothing they can do about that. Good challenging course, very congested, 5 hours for a round, and as mentioned previously bunker sand very poor, mainly grit and stones.Our main complaint, would be the distance from the accommodation to the Golf Course, a good 15-20 minute hilly walk, and that's when not carrying golf clubs, which was not possible for some of our group. There is a shuttle service, but it's infrequent and amazingly doesn't run at weekends!!! We had to rely on taxis from Lagos coming out to us the whole weekend which added a considerable cost to the stay. If we had known this when booking we would have hired a minibus.Staff at Customer Service were not helpful, and the waiting staff at the clubhouse were poor at best, always rushing and slamming drinks down, and it wasn't busy. On only 1 occasion over the weekend did they not make a mistake on our order.Thankfully the weather was great, and the golf good.
