  Top notch family vacations

  We always go with kids and family, so we prioritize swimming pool and no noise at night areas.This was the perfect spot, since at night was very quiet, the other families staying there very friendly, the penthouse apartment was very spacious with a great balcony, beds, kitchen, living room, all great stuff in terms of price/quality ratio.Its literally 5 minutes walking to the main Cabanas Tavira street, where you get the beach boat, restaurants, supermarkets, and so on.Can definitely recommend and will for sure try to book again in the future.

  Disappointing to say the least

  Just back from a week in Cabanas Gardens, modern, clean apartments which are really well fitted out, everything you would need. Take note these are not serviced apartments and there is no reception or staff on site. We had to pay a 50 euro supplement as we didn’t check in until midnight. Our biggest complaint was that the pool area at the complex was not cleaned from we arrived until we left. Bins were overflowing with rubbish on to the ground, the path and the decking were dirty with broken tiles and splinters all over decking. The water wasn’t checked once, poolside showers weren’t working and sanitation quality extremely poor. There are male, female, disabled changing rooms which we couldn’t use as the flowers were dirty and covered in hair. For expensive apartments this was highly unacceptable

  Ok just a bit of thing with the apartment

  We arrived and everything was fine and the next they I called them and asked for more towels for like the beach and the pool and they didn’t come for 4 days after I called them and the air conditioning didn’t work at 4am it stopped and in the other room it was leaking and then the day before we leave they come with towels and they took a look a the air conditioning and said we will not get a guy out for 2 days and we would be gone there probably waiting for the people that will be staying in the room after us also the beads were very hard 1 of us had to move out to the couch to get a good sleep the WiFi works fine but not in long distance the facility’s are very good for example the pool and on the first gate that you enter the code look was broken you could use your pinky and open it it looks like the look was damaged there was also ants in the apartment

  I spent four and a half weeks with my wife at Cabanas Gardens by My Choice Algarve. This was our fifth one months’ longstay for golf. Four years ago we stayed at Mar Menor Resort in Murcia, Spain. Thereafter we have stayed four times in the Algarve, three years ago at Pestana Gramacho Resort, two years ago and last year at Marina Club Lagos and now at Cabanas Gardens in Cabanas de Tavira. The first four accommodations were very enjoyable but Cabanas Gardens was the wrong choice.We had a one-bedroom apartment with roof terrace (7.3B). The apartments are privately owned and decorated and furnished to the owner’s taste. This means that they are all different. For our apartment, the list of cons is much longer than that of pros. Let’s start with the good things:- Location away from the noise but within easy walking distance from the boardwalk and restaurants. It took less than 10 minutes to drive to the nearest golf course, Benamor. Two other golf courses Quinta da Ria and Quinta de Cima (which are a lot better than Benamor) are less than 15 minutes away.- Southwest facing terrace with garden view and no houses in front. It was very nice to take a couple of beers after a golf round on the terrace in afternoon sun. We witnessed also a number of gorgeous sunsets from the terrace.- Spacious and secure underground garage under the building. We could leave our golf equipment in the car which helped a lot because our apartment was upstairs and there was no elevator.Then the list of shortcomings:- The terrace was torn and dirty. It needs urgent renovation.- It happened many times during the first days that the heating & air-conditioning devices stopped suddenly. Later on we learned that in these cases one of the overload circuit breakers had tripped out and that we have to put air-conditioning off before we start the washing machine.- Our 30 days’ package included one maid-service after two weeks’ stay. According to the hotel book ”maid duties include making beds, cleaning bathrooms, sweeping or mopping floors and wiping kitchens surfaces”. Yes, maids came and they changed the bed linen and towels but they did nothing else. No cleaning of the bathroom, no mopping of floors. The same dust and dirt was there after their visit.- Our kitchen was dark because the only lamp was very weak.- Wifi was non-existent in our apartment. - Lack of rack at the entrance. We had to keep our outdoor clothing on the chairs. Irritating!- During the first week the gate from the street to the courtyard was open. One day when we returned the gate was locked. The hotel had not told us the code for the gate. We were lucky: we called our guide and she was at home. She came to open the gate and later on sent us the code for the gate.- The underground parking was meant to have internal access to the building. In the beginning of our stay the access was blocked because the lock was closed and broken.- Sorting of waste is very well taken care of in Cabanas. However, where to put various types of waste in the apartment when there is just one waste basket? We felt it a little strange if we should have gone to the supermarket and buy more waste baskets to the apartment.- In the bedroom we had a wardrobe with drawers and a sliding door. One day it happened that the sliding door got stuck and all my underwear was in the drawers. However, there was a one centimeter gap. I used a hook as a fishing rod and succeeded to fish my underwear one by one. Since then we did not use these drawers.In spite of poorly maintained apartment we enjoyed our stay in Cabanas very much. Cabanas is a lovely village with good restaurants and great golf courses nearby. The weather was the best we have had during our longstays. We could return to Cabanas but certainly not to Cabanas Gardens by My Choice Algarve.

  Have stayed here the past 2 years and we are back next year for the last visit to Portugal. We have been going to Cabanas for 31 years and love it but old age and the prices will prevent us going again
