Great, affordable & comfortable Hostel, with Amazing staff!

    rating28 May 2024

Fabulous! hostel in the heart of Faro, easily reached via public transport from the airport & boosts the most helpful & friendly staff! The characterful building, has lovely communal areas, a good sized kitchen & nice 'chill' out areas to relax & meet likeminded travelers. Our 'private' dorm, was compact, but clean, and had a nice sized bathroom, great shower & a very comfortable bed. The hostel requests all guests respect their quiet times after hours, & this meant you could sleep peacefully. The location couldn't be better, with lots of nice bars, affordable restaurants and shopping nearby. The Marina & Old Town are within a 10min walk, and the hostel is close to a few local supermarkets nearby.

The perfect stop over in Faro. I will always visit here. Good position in city with easy access to all facilties. Great staff and always accomidating. Being central to Algave make it the best hub for visiting all attractions in the province. Cheers.

    Shocking lack of safety.

As a cheap hostel, it was ok. The kitchen was fairly well equipped if a little chaotic at times. We booked an ensuite double room, being of an age when sharing bathrooms are out of the question. Problem started on day1. The "shower " was a bath with an overhead shower attachment. There was a shower curtain across, with the curtain trailing on the floor of the bath. There was no plug, so actually having a bath was not possible. Unfortunately there were no grab rails or slip mats in the bath/shower. I slipped on day 1 and fell on my back. I think I blacked out briefly. I awoke with a spinning sensation and ended lying across the bath with my legs dangling over the edge. Fortunately my partner heard me calling out and he managed to get me out of the bath/shower without either of us slipping further. We told reception who provided some paracetamol. I have still got severe bruising up my back arms and hips/legs. The hostel did not seem to grasp the seriousness of the situation. They did allow me to use an upstairs shower room which had slightly better safety features, but the point of the booking was to have an ensuite bathroom. The staff speak good English and are generally nice people. However, there was a complete lack of concern for me or a sense of responsibility. There was also laundry facilities, but to dry clothes, there was a line on the "roof terrace", which was up some steep uneven steps. Again no handrail and a sheer drop on one side.I don't know the Portuguese for Health and Safety, maybe it doesn't exist. We still had a good time!

    4.5/5

A really nice hostel, very friendly staff, great kitchen and cinema room. Good rooms (with curtains) and toilets/showers beat my expectations. Location was good, wasn’t too far from anything. Price was good for the days we stayed. Would give it a 4.5/5 if I could.Faro can be a little boring as there isn’t too much to do.

    Very comfortable room

    rating04 Oct 2023

We are first time hostellers and had reservations about this style of accommodation. We were quite pleased with our room...simple but comfortable, clean and modern. We had a warm welcome, and were walked through the hostel rules. It has some really nice outdoor spaces to enjoy a drink and good affordable meal options locally. I can't recommend our particular room (DC, a private double on the ground floor) because the window opened directly onto the street. The windows were frosted and seemed pretty good when closed, but for much of the year it's too warm to have no ventilation. ( There was a fan, but no a/c.) There is no privacy from the street with the windows open, so change in the bathroom and hope for no noisy passersby. We did hear lots of pedestrians and vehicles within about 10 feet of the bed. That said, we had had a very long day and a half of travel without sleep so we did sleep well. (We probably could've slept in a bus station at that point.) But we'd definitely stay again in a different room.
