Location

This popular hotel overlooks the beautiful sandy beach of Praia da Rocha on the western coast of the Algarve. The beach is easily reached down a flight of steps from the hotel. It offers the first hotel casino in Portugal and enjoys a lively setting by the promenade. From here, guests will find an abundance of shops and entertainment venues. The harbour, Marina de Portimão, is only minutes away. Public transport departs from stops directly in front of the hotel and the nearest airport is 65 km from the hotel.

Facility

Units include 16 suites, 208 single rooms and 192 double rooms located in a 6-storey main building and a 3-storey auxiliary building. The friendly staff at the reception desk are happy to answer any questions. Amenities include a cloakroom, baggage storage service, safe, currency exchange service and cash machine. Wireless internet access is provided in public areas. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. The hotel has a range of facilities for guests with disabilities. A lift and wheelchair-accessible facilities are available. There are a number of shops as well. The grounds of the hotel feature a playground and a lovely garden. Additional amenities include a newspaper stand, a TV room and a playroom. Guests arriving by car can park their vehicles in the garage (for a fee) or in the car park. Rooms

Air conditioning and individually adjustable heating ensure that rooms maintain comfortable temperatures. Guests can enjoy the sea view from a balcony or terrace. Dining facilities include a dining room, a breakfast room, a café and a bar. A non-smoking restaurant with air conditioning, high chairs and a separate area for smokers is available to guests. Refreshing drinks at the beach bar are a perfect way to enjoy warm weather. Catering options include bed and breakfast, half board and full board. A generous breakfast buffet guarantees a great start to the day. At lunch, guests can choose between à la carte and a set menu. Dinner options include a buffet, à la carte and a set menu. Special meals, including diet meals, are also available. The hotel also offers special catering options.

    Spectacular "resort style" hotel. MASSIVE pool with ample amout of sun loungers and umbrellas for all guests. Spectacular views of the beach below a short amount of steps away. Complimentary breakfast offered a wide selection to choose from! Rooms were a very good size with moderate AC to keep them cool. Great location right on the main strip steps from shops and restaurants. Free parking offered offside but only a 2-3 minute walk away.

    We loved the style,1950,s Hollywood theme gave the place real character.Very friendly staff couldn't be faulted,the sea view was amazing and the gardens.Only fault was the breakfast was barely warm and extremely crowded,a shortage of lifts and a long walk to the car parking.Will definitely return.     The beach is fantastic, the rooms are great, pool is very nice, and the staff are all very friendly and helpful. The restaurant providing sushi in the afternoons and evenings was bar none, the BEST sushi we had ever experienced, a delightful surprise. This was the highlight of our stay here, we ate there a few times in the week. Torres was amazing and an amazing conversationalist.BUT considering this is a 5star hotel, there are a few things to know:- when checking in, be sure to let them know you're leaving a credit card with them (not just the one you booked the reservation with). We went to the lounge, had some drinks, and couldn't close the tab to our room as "we didn't set up credit" with the hotel. Be sure they tell you this when checking in, we were not informed.- the breakfast buffet is quite nice, great coffee machines to provide specialty coffees, but no one to provide simple coffee top ups. All coffees you must do yourself, while standing in line behind several others making theirs- there are NO ice machines anywhere in the hotel, we had to order from room service, with a 3euro charge each time, and waited over an hour the first time, and 40 minutes the second time. On both occasions, we had to call again.- the bath towels provided were very old/thin/threadbare. One of them was all frayed at the edges and had 2 small holes, not what you'd expect from a 5star hotel- there is no makeup mirror nor washcloths provided- there is a spacious lobby with lots of comfortable seating (although somewhat dated), and a beautiful piano, although NO ONE was ever there to play it. This would have been a great environment to enjoy cocktails with, but there was rarely anyone using this space, an opportunity for the hotel to generate revenues was missed.- upon return from a day's outing, the safe was no longer functioning, we had to call for service. And the safe is located in the closet, almost on the floor, very awkward to get into.A nice stay all in all, but room for improvement, and certainly not warranted of a 5star rating IMHO

    Location is good and with nice view. Food is not that good, not a lot to choose between when having dinner and lunch. Employees cannot speak English. Poor service. Should be a 3/4 star hotel.     Have been to Praia da Rocha multiple times before decided to upgrade our usual apparthotel to this for my partners birthday. I paid extra to upgrade to a sea view and even contacted before to confirm it was a sea view as it was a birthday surprise, there was no acknowledgement for the birthday which was a bit disappointing. The rooms were spacious and the view was fantastic however if I hadn't have upgraded to sea view I think I would have left for our usual place. Our room was very dated and the cleanliness was not up to standard. The glass on the door to the balcony was dirty, the bathroom had dried water streaks around the walls, there were stains on the curtains and the bathroom smelt of sewerage. We did explore the rest of the hotel and found similar cleanliness problems in the bathroom at reception. Upon check in we were advised we could change in toilets which my partner did but there was no lock on the door leading to someone walking in on him. The staff we dealt with were average at best. Upon check in we were advised the room was not ready which was expected as it was early however after advising us to change in toilets they simply said we can't help you further and that was that. We were not advised of when to come back or if they would contact us when it was ready I had to Google check in times. The location is great and access to the beach is handy however it closes at 7. The pool was rather cold and the edges of the pool were chipping off however the area around the pool seemed clean enough and we were provided rather soft towels. We spent very little time in the hotel/pool as the area around is amazing. Breakfast was included but we did not partake in this. All in all very disappointing stay especially as I had paid extra than we usually do when staying in Praia da Rocha for my partners big birthday and it was a let down. The hotel is definitely not a 5* I would say 3* at best.
