This apartment complex is located just a few kilometres from the centre of Avor, 4 km from countless shopping and entertainment venues and within 200 m of links to the public transport network. It is 4 km to the nearest sandy beach.

Facility

English-speaking staff at the reception desk in the lobby are ready to assist you with check-in and check-out. A cloakroom, baggage storage service, safe, currency exchange service and cash machine are available. Wireless internet access in public areas allows guests to stay connected.     Hotel is dated since visiting in 2016, badly need of modernising. Room was on the small side.Location needs a car or taxi / uber to get to alvor marina depite being only 5.5kms away there is no safe path to walk. There is a hotel shuttle but have to pay for the luxury. The hotel is missing a trick on food and beverage driving guests downtown due to the prices, €17 for a less than average club sandwich and fries, €5 for a 1.5ltr water that's €0.49c in spar Alvor, €14 for a G&T and €38 for a buffet dinner, which we didnt partake. Should targeting all market demographics of clientele.Highlight was the pool and amazing breakfast included in the room rate, staff at breakfast were great.     Great Location but severe let down of quality

    If quality golf course conditions is what you're after... you wont get that here.The positives. Breakfast was really good and the room was suffice for what we needed. Staff were polite and helpful, the greens on the 'championship' course rolled true and was enjoyable to putt on.Not related to the resort but the town Alvor was beautiful with great food, would recommend for couples.That's about it for positives This resort is so outdated and living in the past. There's a reason the general age was 60+ because these people don't like change. Tee boxes were chewed up and barely any grass. This is always the first thing a good course has is flat, tidy tee boxes. Fairways very patchy and trying to find some nice green grass was a challenge. The worst thing about the course, the bunkers. Wow these are totally neglected and frankly a joke. Not maintained at all as full of mounds and mounds of sand which made each shot plugged. Pro shop severally outdated and understaffed.The resort course...… well, wont even waste my time commenting. Only thing that is good for was growing oranges and perhaps a dog walk.I didn't expect unbelievable conditions but for a resort that claims to be 5 star with a course having hosted multiple Portuguese opens (over 20 years ago btw) it was a severe let down.Clearly shows the business strategy is to rinse all the regular elderly visitors until they pass away and are then forced to invest heavily. There's a reason multiple reviews say outdated and not 5 star.... its the truth.     8 golfers went there end of April for 5 nights. Hotel dated. A shame because it looked amazing in the video . Rooms were dated staff were friendly ,breakfast was good. Now for the golf course,terrible is the only word I can use. 18 holes in over 5 hrs because there were to many on. 3 groups waiting at every tee box. Staff in golf shop not got a clue. Expensive is an understatement. The swimming pool is nice if you don't mind sharing it with a gang of seagulls . Droppings all around the pool and in the pool. Doubt ill be going back .     Pennina golf resort alvor

    Just returned from pennina golf resort with a group off 8 golfers hotel is fine but dated with good breakfast golf however was horrendous condition off sir henry cotton championship course is barely playable as no grass on fairways tee boxes were really bad never seen water and to finish off it takes five and an half hrs to get rd as flooded with people waiting 15 minutes on each tee box prob a d staff in golf shop unpleasant we won't be going back anytime Penina Hotel, Outro at Penina Hotel & Golf Resort, responded to this review Dear I8406ATbillyh,Thank you for your feedback.     Sir Henry Cotton Club Restaurant - Nice Setting, Excellent Service

    We had an enjoyable lunch at this restaurant within the Penina, it has a large terrace with tables overlooking the course, as well as a smart, clubby interior. Other areas of the hotel are rather dated. Service was outstanding, extremely guest focused. Food was ok, nothing to write home about. Apart from the Pastel de nata, which was delicious, but then, aren’t they always!
