  Great value for money, has everything you need for a week or more stay!

  Check in:Was super easy and was greeted by the lovely receptionist Susana. We had apartment C which is located on the ground floor. The apartment:Was very clean and spacious with all amenities you could need. The kitchen had a hob, oven, microwave, kettle and toaster. The bathroom had a large sink with toilet and bidet. The shower was amazing, lots of water pressure. Loved the addition of a glass shower screen however this didnt stop the water leaking underneath the seal and to the bathroom floor. Easily cleaned up though with the mop and bucket provided. One thing I would say to add to the bathroom is a towel rail. There is nowhere to put your towels while in the shower, or a hand towel next to the sink. There have been some installed previously because we can see where they used to be. The bedroom, had 2 single beds which were comfortable, the pillows were amazing quality. One of the sheets had been sown with a very thick/sharp material which did scratch me during the night so I stopped using that and just used the plain sheet instead. Wardrobes were very spacious and there was nightstands beside the bed with a power socket at both. Our room was cleaned every 3 days which was suitable.One thing I did forget to mention to Susana before I left was the door didn't actually lock, which we realised on the day before we left. We turned the key to lock it but the door still would slide open. Location:We hired a car so it was very easy to get to and explore the area. Its about a 20/25 minute walk to the strip in Albufeira or 4 euros in an uber. Unfortunately while we were there the council were doing roadworks so there was a bit of noise throughout our stay but that's no fault of the apartment. The pool was cleaned every morning and was a pleasant temperature. Sunbeds are a little dated but still useable. Overall:I would absolutely stay here again, the value for money is great and the location is good. Thank you Susana for a lovely stay, and thanks again for holding onto my rings which I foolishly left.

  My girlfriend and I stayed for 4 nights and the owners were absolutely lovely. They could not do enough to make it an enjoyable stay. It is a very quiet area and only 20 min walk to the main area. The apartments were very clean and just what we needed for the stay.

  Arrived here on 5th September 2016 for what I thought was for 7 days. Upon arrival I was not impressed with the pool area and surroundings. I entered their so called tiny reception area with a so called tiny bar all cluttered and no draught brands on sale. I was then told that my room number 6 was on the third floor with no lift facilities. I had to carry two heavy cases up three flights of stairs. When I entered the room I could smell foist and the fridge door was wide open with wet towels on the floor soaking up the water. There was no electricity available too, so I walked back down the stairs to complain and the owner followed me back up the stairs to see what the problem was. She picked up the wet towels and turned the electric back on which must have tripped out ? The next night we went out to the strip and when we arrived back there where two fire engines and a police car was outside the apartments putting out a fire on the Varanada of our room. The outer air conditioning had set in fire. The owners had no room to offer us and said we could stay in our room which was full of toxic fumes and no electricity. We were offered a torch. We obviously refused to stay here and packed up our suitcases and waited to see what could be done. The owners could not accommodate us so they closed everything up and went to bed leaving us outside at 2am. We called the GNR Police who arrived but said they could not help us. We eventually found accommodation nearby. Other points of notice is that everything closes at 8PM including reception and the small bar. You are not allowed to use toilet paper in the room and have to place your used paper in a small bin in the room. This was a holiday from hell which I want to forget forever. I strongly advise that you look elsewhere. The owners tried to blame us for the fire saying that we had put towels on the outer air conditioning unit which you would have needed a ladder to get up there. It was obviously an electrical fault. The next morning I called back to the apartment to collect my camera which the owner showed no remorse for what had happened and said my camera had not been left. I went back to my room and there it was my camera.

  An unpleasant stay

  I stayed here with 2 friends for one week and it did not meet our expectations. The staff were very rude and unfriendly, every small request was a problem. We had to show ourselves to the room and carry our bags up two flights of stairs without assistance.The reception was never attended and shut at 6:30pm. If there was even an issue after this time there is no one available to help guests.The "bar" had no stock or change and we were sold an out of date soft drink and waited 3 days for our change which we had to ask for repeatedly! The WiFi is very poor and is an extra €5 a day and air con is €10 extra. The room was poorly cleaned once and bed sheets never changed, towels had definitely seen better days and pillows were desperately uncomfortable. The location is very poor and quite isolated as it says on the booking websites it's 15 mins walk from old town but it is actually 30, and it's only saving grace is a bus that stops directly outside and comes once every 30 mins. There is no supermarket nearby and the only one remotely close is a taxi ride away.I wouldn't recommend Solar do Sol apartments.

  Due to lowcost holidays going bust the day before our holiday we panic booked this place. Blimey, I wish we had had the luxury of more time to shop around. What a disaster of a place. It is in the middle of an urbanized area so nothing around. It's a fair walk to anywhere so taxis are essential. The owners are never there so we booked our own after getting a card from one of the drivers. You wouldn't want to spend any time here. Our room was a ground floor studio and very grim. The towels which should have been thrown out years ago were only changed once so we changed them ourselves from an empty room next door. There is just no service, I know we were self catering but you are completely left to your own devices, it's like once you have paid you are on your own, they couldn't care less about you. We will never be back in this dump and would not recommend it.
