    My wife and I stayed in a twin bedded room on the ninth floor whilst our daughter and her family stayed in a family room / suite on the fourth floor.We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis. The rooms are large, bright, well equipped, including a kitchenette area, large bathroom, two large twin beds and a wide balcony.The choices at breakfasts are excellent: plenty of hot and cold choices, including an egg station where you can have an omelette, or other egg types, cooked to order.Plenty of yoghurt, yoghurt drinks, fruit, cereals, morning goods(croissants, rolls, cakes etc), sausage, bacon, cold meats, breads, fruit juices, water and hot drinks.There are three pools, one for small children and toddlers and two for adults: a smaller, quieter one at a constant 1.25m depth, the larger one is deeper at 2.25m.Adjacent to the larger pool is a bar serving cold drinks, iced creams and hot and cold dishes. We tried the Club sandwich, Cheese & Ham Toastie and Chicken Toastie ( all come with chips) which were tasty and good value for money.The hotel has its own coffee shop on the ground floor where you can buy hot and cold drinks, wine, beers and cakes.The coffee is good value: a latte or latte macchiato is only €2.20.There is a Jazz Bar on the ground floor where they hold evening events for children and adults.On the basement floor you will find the Spa, heated indoor pool, jacuzzi, sauna and gym.The spa, pool, jacuzzi and gym are free to use though you need to wear a swimming cap (€4 each). Treatments cost extra.The hotel is only a short walk from the large marina where there are many shops, bars, ice cream parlours and restaurants to chose from to suit all tastes and budgets.We enjoyed visits to News Bar ( excellent steak and cocktails), The Mayflower ( lamb chops, beef stroganoff, fish and meat curries) The Whale (Excellent burgers and fish and chips) and Luna Rossa ( excellent pizza, calzone, lamb chops and bologneses)The Vila Gala Ampalius is well worth considering if you are visiting Vilamora

    My second time since Christmas 2025 at this hotel. First with my wife for Christmas 2025 then in May 2026 with my mate. This is such a great location with access to the beach, the marina & the old village, a must see. Lot of choice of bars some with live music in the marina. The hotel offers a spa, a large restaraunt offering the usual fare, a very large music themed bar area but offers a limited range of beers on tap only Sagres & a cider. No ales. They do make a very good caipirinia & other cocktails. There are 2 out door pools & a pool bar. The hotel staff very friendly & accommodating. This is a very popular hotel for those into golfing. Great see views & or marina views depending which part of the hotel you plan on staying.I have stayed here twice now & will probably visit again at some point in the future & if looking for a great place to holiday & stay, Vilemoura & Vil Gale Ampalius are places that should be seriously considered.Rich. 440.

    We stayed here as a base for a wedding. This hotel is in an ideal location near the beach and marina. The hotel staff were all very friendly and helpful. Our room was a good size and the beds were comfortable and the bathroom was a good size and had a nice powerful shower, we didn't have a sea view but we had a view of the lawn which was still lovely. We would recommend this hotel for its location and cleanliness. There are two pools, one inside and one outside. We didn't use the inside pool but we did get the opportunity to sit by the outside pool, its not very big but it is a nice area to sit and read a book in the sun or enjoy a drink. Breakfast was included in our stay and the food was lovely with plenty of choice. We really couldn't fault this hotel and would stay again.

    Our stay at Vila Galé Ampalius was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. The hotel itself was beautiful, spotless, and perfectly located, with amazing views and a really relaxing atmosphere. The staff were friendly and welcoming throughout our stay, and everything felt very well organised and comfortable.The highlight of the entire holiday was without question the Rivo entertainment on Thursday night. The atmosphere was incredible, the music and performance were outstanding, and it completely made our trip unforgettable. It brought such a fun energy to the hotel and had everyone enjoying themselves.The only disappointing part was discovering that the show only happened once during the week. It was so good that we genuinely wished it was on every single night! Having that level of entertainment more often would make the experience even more perfect.Overall, we had an amazing time and would happily return to Vila Galé Ampalius again. Highly recommended!
