Location

The hotel is surrounded by 1,000 m² of beautiful gardens, within metres of the picturesque old town and Rio Gilao. Here, guests will discover a good selection of shopping and entertainment venues. The fine sandy of the dune island, Ilha de Tavira, is easily reached by ferry and the hotel bus travels to the landing stage several times a day. The large, excellent golf courses of Quinta da Ria and Quinta da Cima are within walking distance. Public transport departs from stops located directly in front of the hotel; Faro airport is approximately 30 km away.

Facility

The hotel has 6 suites and 262 double rooms, which are located on 3 storeys and are reachable by lift. The reception desk is open round the clock. Amenities include a baggage storage service, a safe and a currency exchange service. Wireless internet access allows guests to stay connected while on holiday. The tour desk offers assistance with booking excursions. The hotel has a range of facilities for guests with disabilities. Wheelchair-accessible facilities are available.     We stopped by Soul & Blues at Hotel Vila Galé, Tavira in November 2025. The bar has an old-school vibe, and while the service was just okay, the staff themselves were friendly. I had two draught Sagres beers which were perfectly fine. My wife tried the veg sandwich — the ingredients seemed decent, but the flavour was very average. Overall, it’s not a bad spot if you’re in the area and want a drink, but it’s more of a simple, no-frills experience.

    We stayed at the Vile Gale for my partners 50th birthday.The hotel was excellent value for money, the small gym and spa were a very welcome inclusion and the breakfast was amazing!The staff left a bottle of fizz and some cake for her actual birthday which was a lovely touch.Some of the reviews make me think they must have stayed in a different place!Will return.

    We stayed at the hotel on a bed and breakfast basis from 5th to 12th May.The room was clean and had a hairdryer, kettle with tea and coffee, air con and a free safe. It also had a fridge but even though the light was on, the fridge itself was warm. There are drinks in the fridge but these are chargeable. 220ml Sagres for €5, no thanks!!! The room lighting is quite dark and could do with some extra lighting.Breakfast was adequate with hot and cold foods and egg station for fried or omelettes and pancakes.There was never an issue getting a sunbed. The photo attached was at 11:30am!! But this wasn’t peak season, don’t know what it would be like in school holidays. When you check in, You get pool cards to swap for towels at the spa.For a large Sagres beer at The pool bar was €5.60. Most bars around the town charge about €3 for a large draught beer. We didn’t eat lunch or dinner at the hotel so can’t comment.The hotel is perfectly placed and close to bars, restaurants and the ferry to Tavira Island beach, which costs €2.70 return.We would return to this hotel as it is clean, has good service and staff and it’s ideally located.

    Great hotel in good location, traditional style building and decor which we first visited many years ago. Pleasant rooms, but neither bedside tables or dressing table have any drawers, which seems like poor design as it could be so much more convenient for guests. It would have been nice to have bath robes.Although a large hotel, it never felt too crowded and we enjoyed the facilities and also the buffet breakfast and dinner. We had not booked half board, as we had planned to eat in the town on some evenings. There are a lot of restaurants to choose from in pretty locations, and there was a lovely atmosphere in town at night. We also enjoyed the hotel buffet though, so we had it on more evenings than we expected. Especially appreciated the fresh bread and rolls.It would have been nice to have some live music in the evenings, which the hotel did have last time we visited. The entertainment now (4 nights per week) is disappointing. The Portugese dancers were good, but all finished by 9.30. The Ritmo Latino was really poor, didn’t watch the circus act as not our cup of tea. The Elvis impersonator was ok, but again not really our thing. Some general (or even themed) live music would be better.We found reception staff mostly went out of their way to be helpful, only one we thought a bit less so. Lovely break, planning to return.

    Decent pool and poolside café. Rooms were clean, nothing really memorable about them. Very spacious common areas. OK for a 1 night stay, but would have wanted something with nicer rooms for a multi-night stay. Lots of tour groups staying there.
