Great Spot a Block Away From the Beach!

    rating18 Mar 2026

We had a very nice 3-night stay at Windchimes. Being one block from the beach was fantastic. The staff was very friendly to chat with, especially the two ladies up front who checked us in, and the gentleman who manages the pool and laundry. The staff do share their time between Windchimes and their sister hotel Acacia down the street, so just be patient if you have to wait a few minutes. They have a text message number you can write to for help, and they were good about responding to that. The outdoor bar was not open during our stay. It looked like it would have been a pleasant afternoon experience had it been open. The room was clean and the bed was nice and firm. The sofa was a bit aged, but we didn't care. No frills but we didn't really want any. The price was reasonable for the area, and we were out and about most of the time. There is a great convenience store about 2 blocks away where we could buy beverages and snacks (they also have wine, beer, sunscreen, hot food) so that was nice. The name of that shop is "To Go."The room had everything we needed - hair dryer, shampoo, clean sheets/mattress/towels, a mini-fridge, and good solid air conditioning. You will get a delicious actual room key (not a plastic swipe card) so plan for how to keep that safe if you go to the beach, kayaking, etc. Our in-room safe wasn't working but our belongings were just fine. If you've ever stayed in a privately owned hotel in Europe, this was comparable in its uniqueness and a very welcome change from chain hotels. No elevators, so walking up to the room gave it a homey feel like a guest house. We really liked the mini-library on the landing by our room and the chairs in the same area where you can listen to the coquis at night and relax in the breeze. I'd definitely stay here again. It was a welcome break from a long cold winter.

    A good experience gone bad

    rating23 Feb 2026

I am so sad to write this review. I originally wrote a really positive review because we loved the location of the hotel, our spacious room on the second floor, the pool, and the balcony to sit on. However, what we thought were possibly mosquito bites turned out to be bed bug bites, which we figured out at the very end of our stay (since bed bug bites do not appear for a week or two after you are bitten) and now I feel that I have to write an honest review. I reported the bed bugs to the hotel and they told me that they disagreed with me and that after checking the room, there are no bed bugs. This is absolutely untrue and I'm betting that they will respond to this review saying the same thing. It has been such a sad way to end what was otherwise an amazing trip.

    DON’T STAY HERE!!!!

    rating14 Aug 2025

This was the worst hotel experience I have ever had in the USA or any other country we’ve visited. The room was disgusting as you can see in the pictures. The floor tiles were filthy and badly stained in the room and shower. So was the grout. Thank goodness we had slippers to wear in the room and shower! There was no hot water except for one of our five days. If you ran the water for a long time, the best you could normally get was lukewarm water. There was no stopper that you could use to fill the sink. The mattress was lumpy. The ceiling fan was caked with greasy dirt that, obviously, had not been cleaned in a long time. There was a hole in the wall that had only partially been patched. In the shower there had been some kind of repair done and it was patched with a big glob of caulking. There was, obviously, no pride in their workmanship. Unfortunately, I paid for my five day stay when I checked in before seeing the room. BIG MISTAKE! When I saw the room I asked for a refund. I was going to try to find another booking. They said there were no refunds and they were fully booked. So they couldn’t move us to another room. Who knows if that would have been any better! This ruined our stay in what should have been a nice vacation. We did everything we could to avoid going back to the room each night. This hotel is nothing like they advertise! My advice is to STAY AWAY!

    Amazing little paradise!!!

    rating02 Aug 2025

Beautiful Spanish charm with white castle walls and red tiles welcomes you the moment you step into the hotel. You instantly feel an ambiance of relaxation, peace, and tranquility. Although it is a small hotel, it features a private and unique area with a beautiful pool and waterfall. We were very pleased with our room, which featured a king bed, a full kitchen with a dining table, a bathroom, and ample storage space. The air conditioning worked great! The location is unbeatable, just a 2-minute walk to the beach and close to a variety of attractions, restaurants, bars, stores, gift shops, and more. The staff was incredibly friendly! We will come back without hesitation. Thank you for our amazing experience!

    DO NOT BOOK

    rating23 May 2025

Do not book. Inflexible hotel. I booked through Expedia and when a family emergency popped up I reached out to Expedia to change the dates to hotel. Expedia was experiencing an error on their part so they reached out to hotel asking if they would allow a cancellation so that I can rebook with Wind Chimes hotel on the new dates. I really wanted to stick to this hotel but they would not allow a cancellation for a rebook and now I’m out $800 because I’m unable to rebook. This is incredibly disheartening as I trying my very best to stay with this hotel because they are not flexible or understanding.
