  Disappointing start to our Camino

  We stayed at Hotel Alda El Suizo in Ferrol for one night before beginning our pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela. The hotel itself was adequate — a basic, clean room as expected for the price. The safe didn’t work, but that wasn’t an issue for us. Unfortunately, we had a poor night’s sleep. With no air conditioning, we had to leave the Juliet balcony doors open, which meant we were kept awake by people partying outside until well past 4:30am.Breakfast was very basic, and while the location of the hotel is great, our experience was overshadowed by the receptionist. From the moment we arrived, he made us feel unwelcome. As we didn’t fancy anything from the breakfast selection, we just had a cuppa and made a sandwich to take with us for the journey — at which point he came in and reprimanded us. It felt very mean-spirited and unnecessary.We also had to ask him for our pilgrim stamp, which he gave reluctantly — and with the wrong date. Thankfully, we noticed and got a correct stamp at a more welcoming stop along the way.All in all, a disappointing experience, especially at such an important starting point for the Camino.

  The hotel was ok, nothing special, staff were friendly and helpful, and breakfast was nice. The facilities were pretty basic, no fridge.The room was a strange shape, meaning the TV was in a weird place and wasn't watchable from the bed, there was also no chair, so the only way to watch it would have been to stand up.Breakfast was pretty nice, a decent amount to choose from. It was also on quite a busy street, meaning it was loud out as people passed by in the night, as did road sweepers and bin collectors in the early hours of the morning. I know the hotel isn't at fault for this, but it's still part of the experience and I found it hard to sleep.Overall, a decent hotel, but I don't think I'd stay there again

  Very Good option for Peregrinos

  Spacious room & bathroom, comfy beds. Hotel super clean and well appointed. Very good breakfast with a lot of variety. Staff helpful and friendly. Only issue we had was that our room was very warm and apparently they don’t have or operate AC in April

  This hotel is very centrally located, basically at a walking distance from anywhere in town and the port. I received a free upgrade upon checking in, and the reception staff was friendly. It`s an older building but it is well maintained. Parking is an issue downtown Ferrol, and the private parking of the hotel is very limited.
