  Asked to leave Hotel because we complaint about the inedible food

  We arrived around 2.45pm at the hotel and asked the reception on arrival for directions for eateries and followed their directions. After finding it impossible to find anywhere serving lunch after 3pm having searched for over 3hours we returned to this hotel hoping to eat there but the restaurant didn’t open until 8pm. We were later told by the manager that the restaurant’s in Elche stop lunch service 3-3.30pm? That information would have been useful from reception when we asked for their help?We had a bottle of wine that we had to open ourselves as no one in the hotel could open it and waited?At 8pm we ordered burgers we were so hungry we decided to stay safe….Big mistake the food was inedible and as hungry as we were couldn’t force ourselves to eat it.No one asked if there was a problem with the food despite 95% being returned on each plate? So we said to the waitress the food wasn’t good expecting it to be removed from the bill. When we went to reception to settle the bill we questioned why the inedible food was still there? The waitress took the bill back to the kitchen and returned shaking her head? We were advised no one could deal with the problem and to ask for the manager in the morning. We tried around 9am but she was having breakfast meanwhile the receptionist asked if it was about the food and we said yes he said I think the manager has taken it off your bill and your just paying for the wine but you need to speak to her she is the “only” person who can deal with this? Fair enough but we are on holiday and trying to plan our day so we had to return around 11am. Not great service when we were only there for 2 nights. The manager asked what the problem was and when we said the food was inedible we couldn’t eat it she said “I’m not accepting that no one has complained before?” We were a bit shocked as we weren’t speaking for anyone else!!? And who were these other people? We were the only diners that evening.After a very uncomfortable conversation she offered to take off 50% because we had eaten 50%?? I don’t know who invented that lie?No we had actually only eaten around 5% or less?She had obviously said to the receptionist that she had planned on taking off all the food so how did it go from 100% to 50% in 2 hours?Apart from this rude managers attitude we were now annoyed that this was our 3rd attempt to resolve this problem out of our short holiday in the city. We suggested as we had been advised that 100% would be more acceptable under the circumstances and she arrogantly said fine but I want you out the hotel by 12pm!!?? Wow we agreed to leave the hotel and she refunded our 2nd night and we paid for the wine. She looked shocked that we agreed to leave.Thrown out because they served inedible food? WowWe checked into the hotel we had booked for the 2nd part of our holiday in Alicante one night early and received a lovely greeting and service.So it worked out better for us. We have informed our family and friends about this unfair disgraceful treatment and they are all shocked particularly because this is a hotel group we all frequently use and respect.

  A Great Location and A Great Stay

  We stayed here for my wife’s birthday and to see the Christmas markets and lights. The hotel has a great central location, just off the main square. We checked in quickly and we had a lovely room on the third floor. The room was a good size, comfortable, clean and quiet.We were very happy either way our stay, if I could recommend one improvement it would be to be able to open the window in the room to let fresh air in.

  We thought this was a great location, a stone throw away from anywhere downtown Elche. We parked the car a bit further away, in a free municipal car park.The room was comfortable, we would definitely stay there again. The reception staff was friendly too.

  This is a good place to stay if you are around Elche. Close to everything you need there. It gives the usual Meliá quality. Breakfast was also good. Enough selection of food and drinks. Although the hotel does not allow smoking someone was smoking on our floor. Hope this will be handled correctly to avoid issue in the future.

  Very friendly atmosphere and the staff are professional and helpful. Eva on reception even messaged me at the Airport to say my jumper had been found in the Hotel Lobby. I was able to ask my daughter to collect it. So thoughtful and much appreciated.
