  Everything you need to know for a solo traveller plus

  2nd visit after a fab stay in Sept 2024., i emailed the hotel in adv and req a quiet room as I work 7 day weeks and need the rest and relaxation of my hol when I take it twice yearly.My room very clean I found I was able to work the tv to gain a fair few Eng progs ( in Spanish dub) but with the remote was able to rev to orig version ie English. Fab for siesta and chill out times. Sadly that’s where my good room positives end, as a solo traveller I didn’t expect to be sandwiched between 2 huge very very loud couples and or family’s with baby, all the men were snoring so loudly from 1am it was making my bed shake, even with the aircon on, ear plugs or headphones in I was unable to sleep. Prior to trying to sleep all the ladies like to stand at either end of their rooms and shout over the already loud tv constantly until they leave the room. On top of this once those people left I was subjected to male grunting whilst watching online porn (gross) before snoring. This goes on until at 5.40/6am the cleaner rattles along the corridor like a jailer with the tea trolly all speaking as if it’s 8am every day since my arrival. At meal times the restaurant table staff are rude and banging and crashing the plates and cups etc loudly and angrily. If you are alone (even if waiting for 2 friends to join you) you are not allowed to sit at a table other than a 2 I was physically moved and admonished even though 5 mins later my meal friends arrived and we then were allowed to sit at a 4 table, I was told off for already having used a cup & glass at table for 2. 100-150 children arrived and were running riot throughout the restaurant nearly knocking elderly people over. I have cancelled my pre booked and part paid for October booking here at a cost. Will not come back. There is even more sadly but not enough space to write it

  Thin walls, very noisy, no rest. Unimpressed.

  Advised hotel of our disappointment. Third visit, will be out last. Walks are so thin, you hear the TV, talking etc. TV's on at 01.30 still. Breakfast was poor, half way through service. The fruit options were only oranges, nothing more. Hot food it was omelettes but no fried or poached or scrambled. Asked the chef, no! Not impressed.   Was sceptical at first seeing the size of the hotel and its location but fears were not founded.

  Although some of it may seem to be getting a bit dated the overall experience having a 10 day holiday certainly exceeded our expectations. Firstly all staff were excellent ,very friendly ,efficient keeping this large hotel spotless and running so smoothly. Room spacious, bath/ shower with great hot water pressure- best ever. Couldn’t fault the food or service in its very large buffet restaurant. Staff were quick turning round the tables for next guests plus trays at its hot / cold self service displays were regularly re stocked so no different being early or late always plenty to choose from. We were full board being part of an organised group of Spanish pensioners , about 70 of us. but I believe there are packages to upgrade meals / drinks. Large pool area with ample beds plus an area with tables and chairs next to the cafeteria /bar. Indoor heated pool , spa and gym were all working. Although a large hotel, but even when it was full one weekend ,everything ran like clockwork also with the 5 lifts meant never having to wait long at peak times. We had chosen to hire a car to explore nearby towns and resorts. Parking near the hotel , as it’s also next to the beach , can be difficult but we opted to use their huge carpark €10 per day to save hunting for a space. Hotel right next to the beach so many stroll to nearby Guardamar. Would certainly return again.   Dirty plates,parking,location bad and unnecessary extra charges on basic facilities.

  All plates greasy and dirty in Restaurant. Show cooking but,The staff make guests wait until all of the food goes from two hot plates to the cold tray.Common courtesy would suggest that if 8 guests are waiting maybe give them the food first. 80% of the Restaurant staff are rude and unhelpful . Artificial sweeteners and butter only available on request .Heated pool cost an extra €3 a day + €3 for a swim cap.Pool bar was not open in May. So 15 minute walk and a trip to another floor to get a drink.Animation staff do not announce activities or encourage guests to take part.Keep an eye on the board in the reception area or you’ll miss activities.Parking outside sparse and the hotel car park cost €11 a day. The hotel has a lot of elevators but the buttons only call one at a time. Sometimes you’ll need to wait 10 minutes before you access a half full one during meal times . The location is bad. Without a car it’s a long walk to Guardamar,expensive taxi or a wait for a bus.We found running the cold tap for a while got the smelly drain scent to dissipate on the 9th floor in our room every time we woke or came back in.On a positive note the room was kept clean and fresh towels everyday .   Lovely stay but Hotel does not make the best of it's beautiful location !!!

  Beautiful location but Hotel is a mixed bag!!, Positives beach within 5 minute walk is amazing , my wife is a runner and got up early every morning and ran along the beach to Guardamar , we checked in the early hours of Thursday 1st April and although the man who checked us in was polite and friendly the whole process took nearly an hour , which after a delayed flight was a bit much, unusually for my experience in Spain some of the staff were really unhelpful and looked like they really didn't want to be there, the exception being the upstairs cafe bar staff who were all friendly and gave excellent service, facilities are dated but the hotel is clean - when I stayed Gym 3 of 5 equipment items were out of service !!, Charging for water for the evening meals seemed a little excessive as well, over the Easter break they had various young football teams staying at the hotel and overall they were well supervised but with a young family, there were times we had to stop over zealous play , especially in the soft play which was closed on our last day due to it being broken , which was not much of a surprise !!, there is an age limit , so hotel really needed better supervision of this area, in the evenings I had to go out of the room and read riot act to youngsters running the corridors knocking on rooms - Entertainments team worked hard and my Grandson enjoyed some of the supervised art sessions easter Egg hunt, overall we enjoyed our stay but were left with the feeling the hotel could be so much better , in balance they were doing a lot of refurbishment work around the pool Atención al Cliente Hoteles Poseidon, Guest Services / Front Office at Hotel Playas De Guardamar, responded to this review Hello steveturner779,Thank you for sharing such a thoughtful review.
