Amazing view & great breakfast!

I had a wonderful stay at the Mercure Hotel Trier Porta Nigra. The highlight was definitely the exceptional view of the Porta Nigra (“Black Gate”) — such a unique and memorable experience right from the room.The location is perfect for exploring Trier, with major sights just steps away. The hotel itself was comfortable and well maintained, and the staff were friendly and helpful.The breakfast buffet was excellent, with a great variety of options and everything fresh and well presented — a perfect way to start the day.Overall, a fantastic stay and I would definitely recommend it, especially if you can get a room with the view!

In total it's a nice hotel, very clean, everything is intact and comfortable, yet especially the rooms could use some upgrades, they look a little outdated.The location is great, right in the city center and the staff is very friendly.

Big room, everything you need is there, beautiful view on the porta negra, but worn, old fashioned. the restaurant was also not open, which was a disadvantage

A welcoming perfect hotel.Breakfasts superb. Cleaning excellent. Evening meal very limited choice. Their chips are wow.Avoid the best room which has very steep stairs inside.Our room 217 was excellent.

Location, location, location! But also friendly staff, excellent breakfast, a spacious room, and clean. On the dowside:Unfortunately the air-conditioning did not work. And looking at the building from outside, it did not work anywhere because all windows were open. There was a food festival right in front of the building so we were stuck with heat, noise and food smells (because we had to sleep with the window open). But.... if we could have kept the windows closed it would have been perfect. So: fix your climate control!
