    Security issues within rooms

    rating27 May 2026

We booked this hotel for a 2 week break , upon arrival hotel from the front looks impressive. Check in was smooth and efficient . Arrived to our room and it's ok , nothing special definitely not like other 5 star hotels we have stayed in , but it's ok and passable . We did ask for a quiet room upon booking but unfortunately we're given a room near the children's pool which meant every morning the fountains came on and make quite a bit of noise if you were sat on the balcony .Swimming pool is not suitable if you want to actually have a swim as it's not designed for that .Bar area is nice and bar staff friendly and helpful.Restaurant on our first week was pleasant although a lot of food was cold , I would like to make guests considering this hotel to be aware that this hotel does take large group bookings which we were unaware of when we booked . On our second week 2 coach loads of a group arrived and took over the bar area and especially restaurant at meal times making it a horrible experience to get any food , it appeared that they all dined at the same time after arriving back from excursions throughout the day. A group of 100 people all entering the restaurant together does not make for a 5 star experience the restaurant staff could not keep up with the amounts of food being consumed and there was large waiting times for food to be replenished or to have anything cooked on the live cooking station .I will say all the restaurant staff were lovely and you could see they were trying there hardest to satisfy the needs of all customers. We did try to put up with it for 2 days then dined out locally for our meals . The more serious issue we had was with room security, on one afternoon arriving back to our room , my Mrs was laying on the bed undressed after taking a shower , I went into the bathroom and heard the door to our room open and her scream , someone had opened our door and entered our room . I did go out and look for them immediately after checking she was ok but they were gone .I informed reception regarding this matter and was told it must have been the wind that unlocked and opened the door . This obviously didn't satisfy us so eventually they sent a maintenance man to check the lock which was fine . We did ask to change rooms after this experience and was denied . I did ask if they could check CCTV to find out who came in our room and we were told no CCTV nothing we can do .I would suggest this poses a great risk to females staying in this hotel alone and would recommend upgrading lock security to the rooms .Nice small gym area , spa facilities not the best cold jacuzzi and lack of steam in steam room , also be aware extra cost if you would like to use the sauna .I requested to pay for late check out from day one of our trip and asked regularly throughout our stay and was told yes your on the list , upon check out morning was told no can do . Roquetas itself is a lovely peaceful area ,clean tidy and flat for good walks have been visiting here for many years .

    Good Value for Money

    rating26 May 2026

We are currently staying here during May half term. Our family are really enjoying this hotel.A lot of people complaining it’s not 5 star but this wasn’t an overly expensive holiday compared to some other 5 stars so you get what you pay for.We have found all the food to be very tasty and enjoyed visiting the separate Asian restaurant. We are booked in at the Italian tomorrow night. The hotel has a very relaxed vibe about it and all of the staff are really friendly and helpful. The promenade just out the back of the hotel is lovely for a stroll. We also ate out one evening at Raku a little restaurant about 5/10 min walk away. The best fillet steak I’ve ever had so I would highly recommend it.Take insect repellent as lots of mosquitoes at night. Protur Hotels, General Manager at Protur Roquetas Hotel & Spa, responded to this review Thank you very much for sharing your experience with us!We are truly delighted to hear that you and your family are enjoying your stay during the half-term holidays. It’s wonderful to know that you appreciate the relaxed atmosphere, our friendly team, and the quality of our food — especially your visit to the Asian restaurant. We hope you have a fantastic time at the Italian restaurant as well!We also appreciate your honest perspective regarding value for money, and we’re glad you feel you are having a great experience with us. It’s lovely to hear you’re making the most of the beautiful promenade and exploring the local area too — thank you for the recommendation!Thank you as well for your helpful tip about mosquito repellent, which will surely benefit other guests. We hope you continue enjoying your holiday and wish you many more wonderful moments during your stay with us.

    Fantastic holiday

    rating25 May 2026

Stunning location right on the beach with a long promenade walk in either direction , and lots of bars cafes and shops all within easy walking distance. The hotel has a whole doesn’t have a busy loud vibe , it’s very relaxed and chilled. We stayed in a jacuzzi suite and the room was a really good size and very clean. The choice of food every day at every meal time was enormous, easily found something every time and tried lots of new things , on a couple occasions some of the dishes were not piping hot where they had been sat out for a while. The staff throughout the hotel are professional , very friendly and welcoming and could let be more helpful. Overall we thought it was very good value for money and had a fantastic holiday and will be booking again Protur Hotels, General Manager at Protur Roquetas Hotel & Spa, responded to this review Thank you so much for your wonderful review. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed our beachfront location and the relaxed atmosphere of the hotel, as well as the comfort and cleanliness of your jacuzzi suite. It’s great to know that you appreciated the wide variety of food on offer and that our team made you feel welcomed and well looked after throughout your stay. Your kind words about our staff truly mean a lot to us.We also appreciate your feedback regarding the food temperature on some occasions, and we will certainly review this with our team to ensure improvements are made.We are thrilled that you had a fantastic holiday and consider us good value for money. We very much look forward to welcoming you back again soon.

    Hotel with a madk

    rating24 May 2026

Hi all , this is and always be a true review of this hotel and our experience 2adults 2 children . I will do this in order has I see fit , Hotel lovely but not a 4⭐️ star plus or 5 ⭐️ star rated has it stated on building . Reason needs complete refurbishment to bring it up to date then it could become a 5⭐️ location Grt and 1 min to beach out of back entrance lots of sun beds but started to get busy so up early to put towels down . Pool small but has a lazy river around it so can’t complain . ( life guards miserable ? ) rooms are comfortable but need updating no wow factor here average . Entertainment again average nothing special but kids enjoyed it . Bar staff work hard but have no clue how to make cocktails all out of a box many people disappointed ☹️ again big let down these things should be standard in 4⭐️+ 5⭐️ rated hotel and only 2 bars available shocking for the size of hotel . Last but not least food plentiful and good choice however a lot of people and myself not happy food either cold or luke warm only hot if you get stuff off grill some food served totally tasteless need better quantity chefs in my opinion it’s all rushed with don’t care attitude ( invest in better hot plates to put food on and better chef !!!! My Rating would be 4⭐️ only reason it wasn’t lower nice clean hotel and and very close to beach , this is my truthful opinion !!!!!! Protur Hotels, General Manager at Protur Roquetas Hotel & Spa, responded to this review Dear Steve,Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed and honest feedback. Not 5 star at all

    rating23 May 2026

This is as far from a 5 star hotel as Micheal Jackson is my uncle. We are a widely travelled couple and have stayed at many hotels throughout spain and beyond and this is our opinionThe hotel itself is grand , it looks very nice from the front and the back by the beach. The pool area is good and the children seem to love it especially as it has a flowing river thing round the edge. It seemed clean enough but we did not use the pool or stay round the pool area. The room:We had a family room for 2 adults. It was big enough for us but a family of 4 it would be a tight squeeze. Small bed, for a 5 star I would at least expect a queen sized bed . Mattress protectors but no pillow protectors! ( first hotel that hasn't had these! ) Although the pillow were spotless .i think the rooms are normal bog standard rooms, nothing 5 star about it at all, not indulgent or opulent, just a normal hotel room you would find in any 2star to 4 star.It is dated but very clean and housekeeping do a grand job. The bathroom is fine, i liked the separate toilet area, always a good idea. Shower had a very small rainfall and handheld shower in a bath- plenty of hot water. His and her sinks. Now for some reason the hairdryer is on a wall behind you, right next to the door- you have to be extremely strong to keep yanking it to dry your hair and look on the mirror at the same time- why in earth is it not right near the mirror in the first place?Thank god i brought my own hairdryer! There was no extras in the bathroom that i would again expect from a 5 star- no small bottles of body lotion ,no dental kits/ shaving kits.etcThe hand soap had a horrible strong smell and the shower gel is as cheap as chips- it dried my skin out and never foamed properly you had to squeeze out loads- Ive been in a 3 star hotel that supplies dove shower gel so i think this is very poor and I had to go out and buy my own. They supplied bottles of water and coke/fanta in the fridge which is replenished when used - a nice touch but it is AI.Food-Now where do i start- as some have already said previously - not 5 star- I have had a better choice and variety in 3 and 4 star.Breakfast is ok, full english to continental - although the croissants are not fresh- they are out of a packet, the type you get from a supermarket- a hotel claiming to be 5 star should be baking these fresh , we stayed in a 4 star in Benidorm in April and they managed it!There was also no little extras either ie; dates, chia seeds, kiwi fruit, bananas, avocado, in fact there was not a lot of choice of fresh fruit to choose, again all these things can be found in hotels with less star rating. Always the same pineapple and melon day in day out- oh, not to mention frozen fruit! Never come across this in a hotel! Lunch and dinner-Didn’t enjoy lunch at all , again same fruit during lunch and dinner same pastries for pudding too , presentation was abysmal - just looked like they chucked it in the pans without a care! If you like pork you’ll do well, they had an abundance of it, i think they actually own a farm with the amount of pork that was always at dinner and lunch. Food was bland and meats were chewy. Ive always enjoyed food at hotel but not this one, not much flavour in the dishes at all.Food is not topped up quick enough either, yes its a busy time but claiming a 5 star you need to be on top of this. I was even at the show cooking station when some chap was going to get himself some pasta and the chef told him off and told him not to take it as it was too hot! Why put it out then!! The dining area needs an over-hall- its stuck in the 70’s- dusty light shades. Out dated chairs and fruit flies round the fruit. You can actually get battery fly fans to put near food now to keep things like that away so maybe thats what they need to do.The staff are very friendly and attentive though.Being a so called 5star there should be water stations on every floor so you can top up without trudging all the way to the bar to get more if you have used your water from the fridge. My husband tried to get a non alcoholic pina colada but they said they didn't do it! What hotel bar cannot make up something like that! Too much of the things in this hotel are out of a packet and they say they are enviromently conscious . This hotel could be something good but its not, its more a 3 star - it needs a complete over-hall and renovation. The beach is shingle too so you may need some sea shoes as its not nice to walk on!There is not much near the hotel, just a scattering of shops and restaurants , so if you like to do things outside of the hotel, go somewhere else!So as you can guess we are not impressed! We wont be returning as there are much better hotels out there for much less money ! Protur Hotels, General Manager at Protur Roquetas Hotel & Spa, responded to this review Dear Kelly,Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback.
