    Great location and modern amenities

    The hotel location is great for exploring. The hotel amenities are nice, especially the rooftop pool. The rooms we fine - modern and reasonably equipped. Unfortunately the air conditioning was very poor. Even with the thermostat at 10 Celsius, little to no cooling happened and we had to open windows to be able to sleep. I can’t imagine what it would be like in peak summer. The staff were very indifferent and unengaging, and they appeared that way with everyone. We did not have breakfast at the hotel - instead we walked across the street and enjoyed wonderful fresh breakfasts at Fred y Elsa for less than the hotel charged.     Fabulous, especially breakfast!

    We visited end of April as a group of two couples, my husband and I had a twin room which at first I was disappointed with as we did not request this. However, we did not mention this at the time as for a city hotel it was very spacious and the bathroom was incredible!We had a separate bath on one side with a rain fall walk in shower on the other.It was kept immaculately clean by Lucia throughout our stay and the beds were so comfortable. Breakfast was amazing! So much choice, and so fresh. Service was excellent throughout.The hotel is in a great location, we were able to walk to most of the sites, also there are some lovely bars and restaurants close by (but don’t go to the steak house almost opposite!Overpriced and poor food) I would definitely recommend this hotel, some of the rooms on the first floor can be a bit dark but we didn’t pay to upgrade and were happy with what we received (especially the breakfast!)     ruined our trip ! unfortunate experience .HOTEL CATALONIA BORN in Barcelona advertises as being 4 stars - nothing4 Star about this place. absolutely unacceptable and unpleasant and not true to its advertising. I would have happily moved hotel. Fortunately, we left after two nights. I have never stayed in such a lousy hotel. stars are not nothing pleasant. uncaring front desk. and as I reported my experience via email, even their response customer care was that the room was correctly advertised and what I paid to get. Huh? never never again! By the way my photos haven’t been published - in my initial review ! possibly too telling of reality ? However, I would like to explain to the other people who have read your comment what actually happened. The hotel is located in the historic Born district, and that is precisely its charm—or not.We regret not having changed you to a superior room, as you demanded, and we also have not refunded the price of the two nights, as you also requested by email, as we consider it excessive simply due to unsatisfactory views.     Don’t judge by outside frontage

    Booked via a travel operator, turned out to be a real little gem. Helpful reception, prompt check in with useful information. Room was possibly slightly small, but really comfortable and well presented. Bathroom was stunning, very well maintained and equipped. Good buffet breakfast.     Beautiful boutique hotel in the heart of El Born

    We spent a couple of nights in this beautiful boutique hotel in the heart of El Born district. It’s a great hotel if you want to explore this neighbourhood in detail. There’s lots of shops, cafes and unique streets to visit in El Born so this hotel is the perfect location to stroll around and it’s still close to the city centre just a few minutes away from Plaça Catalunya and Passeig de Gràcia. The rooms are quiet and comfortable. They come with a kettle to have a little coffee, mini bar and room service until 11pm. We had a little balcony overlooking Rec Comtal. The rooftop with swimming pool was beautiful. A spacious place to relax, sunbathe or just swim in the pool on a hot sunny summer day. Beautiful views of Barcelona from the top. There’s also a little lounge downstairs to sit down and read where we could meet a friend who visited us at the hotel. We really enjoyed our stay and we hope to visit again in the future.
