    Very disappointing

    rating01 Mar 2026

Booked in April 2025, payment taken straight away (which I was OK with 9 months out) free cancellation possible 7 days prior. 5 days prior to arrival advised restaurant would be open & that a limited menu would be available. Was not advised at time of booking that restaurant would be closed (in fact I have confirmation it would be open) I requested a copy of the menu. Very limited indeed. Made contact with the property to advise they were not transparent and should have advised prior to the cancellation period had expired. Had a few emails back and forth prior to me calling to discuss the situation. Spoke to a Robert who was not interested in helping or being flexible in any way. The gardens, property, views, rooms, fireplaces, the road into the property etc are fantastic. The whole character & charm of the property is completely let down by inexperienced staff (not all of them) who have clearly been thrown in the deep end with insufficient training or inadequate induction process. Limited knowledge of drinks, did not know how to make an Irish Coffee, no idea what “Trio of chicken” was on the menu. No sides offered for the meals. No contact from management at any time during our stay. Other patrons requested the kids menu as nothing to their liking on the menu. This place could be brilliant however it’s not going to be under the current staffing arrangements. Fawlty Towers comes to mind.

    Fawlty Towers comes to mind

    rating31 Oct 2025

In our 10 day touring trip this was the most expensive hotel in Norwegian kroner over 3000 for the night! If we compared to the beautiful Knipoch House Hotel we stayed just outside Oban for only 1590 NOK the comparison is just mind boggling.Never been more disappointed. We knew it was remote along a potholed road and not close to any restaurants, so fine. From the outside the hotel looked beautiful, then that's where it all stopped. The pungent sour smell of the tiny reception area was awful. I could see the carpet on the stairs going up to the rooms looked filthy.Up to our huge bedroom, big double poster, beautiful room out to garden and water. Upon closer looking round I saw thick dust on the skirting boards, carpet, bed. Running your finger over just lifted very thick dust. The bin in the bathroom hadn't been emptied. So down for drinks which were expensive prices. We booked this hotel for the peace and quiet plus the choice of meals on the menu. The menu was also left in our bedroom. Time to order was told were only 3 mains. Plus 1 vegan option. I couldn't eat any of the 3!!! Ended up paying 19 pounds for a small dessert cheese board. What a joke. Breakfast was so so, best thing was the marmalade!!!!Desperately thinking of positives...guess the beautiful Chinese pheasants outside.A grossly overpriced establishment in need of a deep clean, better menu! We've stayed in Cullin Hills hotel in Portree twice that runs rings over this place.

    Fantastic relaxing stay!

    rating09 Aug 2025

An absolutely a 5-star experience. I loved the location — yes, it’s 20 minutes from the nearest restaurant, but that’s part of its charm. Remote, calm, beautiful, with a gorgeous house, tall ceilings, a super-comfy bed, and a fantastic clawfoot bath. It struck that perfect balance to make it a truly wonderful stay. The staff were quirky in the best way — genuinely fantastic. A special shout-out to Megan on reception, Sasha who went out of his way to find me some Earl Grey tea bags, and the lovely gentleman who handled my slightly unusual gluten-free breakfast order with such care.I’m absolutely going to come back with my partner. Just a fantastic stay from start to finish.

Lovely end to our island hoping adventure, spacious room, nice guest lounge, pretty grounds and a yummy breakfast. The bar was also a nice bonus

    Beautiful Hotel

    rating12 Mar 2025

Beautiful hotel in a remote location, room was exceptionally clean and of a high standard, warm and comfortable, lacking in wifi connection but not that big of a deal. Bar and lounge areas were lovely with a welcoming roaring fire. The dinner was cooked to perfection as was breakfast, we enjoyed our weekend stay so much that we have rebooked for next March
