Good value place in the suburbs

Stayed one night on the come in the north, and overall it was fine. Check in easy, functional rooms with ok beds, and a cafe on the ground to get coffee, breakfast etc. didn’t use the spa or gym. Not much around except supermarkets half a mile away (25 min to the train station)

    Wonderful friendly staff

We came across the Hotel San Millan after being refused boarding by Brittany Ferries because of a vehicle problem - even though we had a dog-friendly cabin booked well in advance. We were very fortunate to find the San Millan, which is a dog-friendly hotel. The welcome we received, after a very stressful day, was second to none. We cannot praise this hotel highly enough. So if you are visiting Santander or getting a ferry, this is the place for you. There is also lovely dog park just across the street, and the locals made us and our dog very welcome for the three weeks that we had to stay there until we could get a dog-friendly cabin on the ferry.

Very friendly staff, very good breakfast for 6 euro, but next time I'm staying in the city centre.

We stayed here after our Camino trek. Halfway between the city of Santander and the airport, we had no transport so took taxis everywhere, perhaps we would have been better off in the city itself. There are four of us - and they could not fit us in one room - so put three in one and myself in the other. However, my bedroom had two beds, so my wife went in with me and our teenage children had a room to themselves just down the corridor, which actually worked well in terms of a growing experience for them. They had great views of the mountains, we had the back but could see the local church. Not much to do in the vicinity, but the city was only ten minutes away. Had a great time in Centro Botin and then took the ferry next to it to the Playa de El Puntal which was the highlight of our time in Santander. Breakfast was good, plentiful and cheap, staff very friendly. We had dinner there too (not available on weekends) - cheeseboard was great, pasta not so good. Pool was considerably smaller than the photo suggested but we had fun in it, have to wear a swimming cap and I'd bring goggles too.All in all I would stay in the city itself next time but the staff were very friendly indeed.

    Worst scary hotel

    rating13 Dec 2018

The hotel was more of a very loud gym with classes and music than a hotel. The hotel parking was all being used by gym visitors and we had to wait in the car for one hour before obtaining a space and then aggressively accosted by someone else claiming it was their space. When we went into the hotel someone else started shouting at us saying we had stolen the car park space, we were very scared and wanted to leave but as it was very late we had no where else to go. The hotel staff also twice tried to lie about money. They asked for a 50euro deposit and then when we asked for it the next day they claimed it was only 20 and luckily we had a receipt. When buying a coffee they also tried to give us back a lot less change and pretended that it was another genuine mistake. The hotel was creepy, noisey, frightening and a horrible experience. We left at 6am so we could just get out!
